I have always had a weak spot for Grasshoppers! Smiling
I met plenty in Brazil, in all sizes and shapes, some in striking colours and patterns, cuties and weirdos, some looking more familiar (to me) like the European ones. Usually hard to catch though with a compact camera, being the very alert creatures they are.

Comments here please

The one that charmed me the most was a small red, probably juvenile Bush Cricket (Tettigoniidae) living deep in the red heart of a Bromeliad. While having a closer look at it, I saw two green tiny shiny eyes staring at me from the depths..I had no idea who these pretty eyes belonged too, couldn't’t see anything of the rest of its body. More was revealed when I carefully and slowly pulled one of the prickly stiff leaves a little apart, taking care not to scare it.
The next day I checked again the same Bromeliad, it was still there but had climbed higher up and was no longer in the center with the red leaves, but in one of the side leaves and had amazingly adapted its colour accordingly..

A big Bush Cricket, camouflaged so well like a fresh leaf as it would be in daytime in the forest, I met a few times at night attracked by the light.

A smaller type of Bush Cricket, they seem to adapt their colour according to the plant they are sitting on..

I'm very puzzled by next one, but it might be a nymph Bush Cricket with a body size (without legs) of not more than 2-3mm.
I spotted that teeny thing when we were having a refreshing beer on the beach of Paraty town, under a tree, it first sat on my can of beer and then jumped unto the red plastic table. I wish I had a more poetic background for this cutie.. Rolling my eyes. Lovey dubby
