Sweet little frogs that live by the river, usually hidden in the dark under boulders dripping from the water. Lovey dubby

Astonishing really how they keep a firm hold with ease on wet slippery vertical boulder sides overrun by the river!

Frog eggs and a shallow pool made by a cavity in a huge flat river boulder.

A well- appreciated house friend with a big appetite, this toad we would see nearly every day coming in usually after the dark sets in, or on wet days, it liked to dine in the kitchen with its favorite dish being ants but other critters had to be on their guard as well!
It seems to have a high self-esteem, just missing a big cigar! Hilarious!

Not sure if this is the same toad as the colour tone is different..
this one had taken its residence in a storage space under the staircase filled with tools and other stuff from the building works.
During the day it would sleep in an old painting tray.
I took it outside to get a better light for its portrait, not sure if that was appreciated, nor that I later took it to a nicer setting.. Rolling my eyes.

Callithrix penicillata

I have been missing a telephoto lens for the monkeys we often heard and sometimes saw running and jumping about in the tree canopy.
This is as much I could crop the pictures to stay reasonable..

Crawling over the riverbed under water in a sunny shallow and quiet part of the river.

Small crabs living by mangrove woods.
I found those busy creatures at the dead end of a stone and earth street in the old part of Paraty, the street ends where the mangrove starts. They were with many busy with construction works, you had to watch out where you stepped!

It was still daylight when a bat all of a sudden fell onto the balcony as if fallen straight from the sky. It was not hurt though as it flew back off later. But strange to see a bat in the day!

That's all I got from a big Iguana who liked to use the earth path I made for going down to the river.
I often heard it rushing through the dense undergrowth. It was very shy as unfortunately Paula's dogs liked to hunt it,
but I don't think they'll even catch it as it is too smart and fast!
