Eufaula, I know very little about hawks, however I do know we have tons of them here and they always fly generally two or three together. They search all the pasture land for the field mice. They are over my coop area on a regular basis. In the ten years I have been raising chickens I have never lost one to a hawk. It may be that some breed of hawks are more agressive than others. I'm not sure. Just seems strange to me that I haven't lost any and my girls are free range. I lost some to coyotes, and possum, and I know I lost two to weasels. It's great you saw him that way your not guessing. I just hatched out 23 new seramas this week and have eight left in the incubator...Hay
