Lance had I known you were going to grow bushel gourds I would have warned you that they need growing a clear 100 feet if you leave them a la natural in growing. However they can be trimmed back as long as you cut at a junction and not disturb, if possible, the flowers that are forming tiny buds. Its like pruning a rose bush.

Try trimming the long tendrils back a foot and see how that works.

Thanks for the thoughts. We got several that are almost dried out, just not as big as hoped for. I may try again this year, but Skye and I also picked out goblin egg mixed gourds. We try different things every year. We are also going to try green popcorn, it actually is green kernels.
There are some bushel gourd vines that came up on their own from dropped seeds, so I may leave 2 of those. The longer time in the ground and trimming might just give us something huge!

Family Fun - Wireless & Unplugged

I created this cubit to share ways of motivating families, especially children, to get outside, and activities to do once everyone is outside. Being outdoors is a wonderfully fun and healthy activity. Let's share indoor unplugged activities, as well.
