Thought we should have a place for gardeners with a short growing season and extreme winter conditions. All are welcome. Chat about gardening, life, whatever you feel like.

Here I be, must say I am having a bit of a learning curve to deal with here .. but .. with time it'll get easier.
The view in my gardens right now .. northern gardens .. is .. SNOW ... amazes me how the perennials come back after being covered for months ..

Have a good one

Hi Barbara Smiling

Looks as though not many people are slipping over here to cubits .. I'm sure that will change once the snow goes and the gardens start growing Hurray!

I have a message to categorize this cubit. I have no idea what to do. Maybe should just delete the cubit and let someone with more whatevers(time, interest, savy) start the cubits and moderate them.

Chocolate moose you are very welcome to chat here.

I put this cubit in the categories for Chat and regional gardening. It's not really regional, but there wasn't a better description for the gardening part. Didn't see zonal, let me know if it's there. Guess I should work on a description and invitation.

I think we need Linda's email address. I'll see if I have it, I think I must.

I heard you guys talking about me... Just like a bad penny... Thanks for the invite.
I'm not in zone 3 now, but I spent 6 years in NB and 3 years in the NWT trying to grow a garden in both.
Gardening's a whole lot easier where I am now.

ok - who's overwintering stuff to plant outside (when we get Spring, that is!!)

I have some brugs I was sent, from NB, and "mothering" them along. Lost some, but most are great!

Brugs, plumies, hibiscus, abutilon, passion vine, pelargoniums, orchid cactus, and some houseplants that stay inside all year.

I grow Dats - just leave the plant and it self-seeds. I get 40 or more little babies that die off and come up every year. I really have to thin them out, or I won't get the humungous plants that make the neighbours "ooooh" and "awwww" over ^_^
