When I click on the icon "upload an image" it does not open the browser to choose a picture file. Cubits is the only website that I have a problem uploading a photo, so being in Canada and how ever the server things work shouldn't affect load a picture. No problems on Dave's Garden or Facebook. Any advice?

This problem started a few months ago and it is very frustrating. Dave doesn't have any ideas since he does not use a Mac.

Thanks,
Joanne

Hello.

Which web browser are you using? And have you tried another browser, i.e. Chrome for Mac, to see if problem still exists?

Did you fix your problem?

No. It would appear that it has something to do with servers and routing. Since I have no issues posting/loading photos on any other website, it is Cubits specific.

Things that I have tried: Made sure that I am "logged in" on only one computer. I had logged in at work on a PC, as well as at home on the Mac. I shut down the computer and completely disconnected all the internet provider cable etc. So it did a clean new reconnect. I do shut down or restart the Mac on a regular basis.

It is interesting that I had no problems at all until mid Summer. That was one of the things that I liked about Cubits. I set up the entire Seeds cubit months earlier with my own photos and there no issues. Something changed a few months ago and it has caused some problems.

I can't imagine what the problem could be. I'm on an older G4 with Leopard OS and Firefox browser. I have no problems uploading pictures in Cubits. Maybe something is disabled in your browser's preferences, but then again you don't have problems on other sites. If it were Cubits vs. Macs, then I would have problems also. I know Sharon Brown is on a Mac also and has no problems uploading. All I can think of is Cubits doesn't like your browser. Are you using Safari or an old IE? I don't use either one of those. Check your settings to see if you've allowed or disallowed something. I'm sorry I can't be more help.

I'm using Safari, with all current updates.

The difference is I'm in Canada and you are in the US. I'm not sure how the networks are routed, but that seems to be the only thing that would make sense

There's a Canadian on the Blue Gardens Cubit. He's always loading pictures. Don't know if he's on a Mac though. I'll ask him if he's had any problems.

Have you run disk utilities/repair disk permissions lately? that solved some problems I was having with Cubits a month or so ago. I am still having some problems with uploading photos. I am in the US, but I use the latest Mac OS and the latest version of Safari. When I click Upload an Image, I can get the window to navigate to the image, but when I select the image and click choose, nothing happens. Sometimes I have to do that step 10 times before I actually get the photo to load. So, I do think there are issues with Mac and cubits.

Sometimes I have better luck with Firefox when I am having this problem. It is a free download - you might give it a try. If you do, I would make sure you get the latest version, and do a repair disk permission after installing it. Be sure to tell it you do NOT want it as your default browser - it will ask you every time you open it -- I prefer Safari. Firefox is rated higher, but I am so used to Safari, I will stick with it. But, sometimes Firefox will work when Safari won't.

But I would do a couple repair disk permissions if you have not done any lately - it's a good idea to do them after every update anyway.

The only setting on the mac that I can think of that might possibly be an issue for you is if you have the pop up blocker checked - but I have mine checked and am not having the same issue you are.

Sounds like your problem could be Safari. I've never had any problems uploading pictures to Cubits using Firefox. I quit using Safari when OS Leopard came out. Don't remember why, but switched to Firefox then. Hope using Firefox when on Cubits solves your problem.

I have the problem with Firefox too. It is intermittent with both. But when it is not working on Safari sometimes it works with Firefox. Diana, didn't you say you use Leopard? Maybe it is a Snow Leopard problem.

It looks like there is a problem and it seems that it is the same problem for other Cubits Members that use Mac Systems. . Hopefully Dave will be able to correct it. I find it very frustrating to not be able to load photos.

And, like you, I used to have no problem. I think I started to have a problem 2-3 months ago.

Dave has done some changes today. I think the issue of uploading images has been fixed! Does it work for you now?Thumb of 2010-09-27/Joannabanana/e80e95

Let me see....

If you see three images, yes - it worked! First click, first time, all three images. All were taken with different cameras... just to test....

edited to see if I could erase them and add them again - which was another thing I was having problems with - and it seems to be working also!

Hurray! Glad to see the issue was solved. When I saw somebody say that it started 2 or 3 months ago, well I was thinking that was about the time Dave changed things so you could easily add more than one photo to a posting. Good to see he was on top of this and fixed it!
