Thanks for starting the coneflower forum Warren. Good to hear you're bulbs are popping up Diana. Noticed my daffodil bulbs I refrigerated for 4 months, prior to planting, have popped up this week. Wasn't sure if the refrigeration thing would work, but I guess it did. Daffodils in Florida are definitely gonna confuse some of my neighbors. Have a few of the new Echinacea, ordered online, coming the week of March 1. C'mon March, c'mon March!!!
Here is this years first bloom on Echinacea "Green Eyes" opening up this morning.
That Green Eyes Looks Great, Jon, I remember last summer you posted some pictures of Green Jewel, and I am still looking for one of those.
There sure seems to be a "Green" theme going on in the Echinacea world. Theres also the Green Envy.
I do like that Bright Green Center with the pink petals. The older Echinacea varieties tend to have the Orange cone centers. In my opinion, the Green and Pink make better partners than the orange & pink.
Hi Jon glad you made it here too. I am so jealous that you have pretty echie blooms, but I am so glad to see them. At least we missed the big snowpalooza that is dumping on the poor folks in between our locations. So I should be thankful for that right. I too am looking forward to march. Hope to be able to start poking around out there again. Also have 'Green Jewel ' on the way so look forward to seeing one of the greenies up close.
Green Eyes opens with a green center, but it eventually turns orange. It does stay green for quite a few days. Green Jewel is still blooming here, but the blooms are short and seem to be from last years growth. There is new growth now appearing on that plant.
I don't think anyone of us wanted this latest snowstorm. That's way too much snow.
I only wish mine were flowering now. Cold, Cold, Cold is all I can say up here. At least it isn't the snow their getting in the mid atlantic.
I really like Green Eyes. It gives a great contrast when the eye is green.
