Are you sure "crushed granite" is as fine as chicken grit? In this part of the country it's also known as 1/4 minus, granite with pieces as big as 1/4 inch but mostly fines.

When you say Turface is non-clumping kitty litter, do you mean the old-fashioned clay litter? Like the original Johnny Cat?

I am doing so badly with succulents and the like that I really need to make my own 'soil'; I just want to be sure I do it right.
