I have a red mule who's name is Charley. Charley is quite a beautiful animal. He stands 15 hands tall (Hand=4") Several of the girls have asked me "What is a Mule?" I hope this helps answers the question.

Walk in Peace.
Yes, the mother is a female horse unless they use a zebra, that has been done too. They make beautiful animals.
they are more selective anymore as to what mares they use and can have a dressage mule that does as well as any horse. They have mule races out in Nevada. Mules are very interesting critters. I love my Charley. He is just as sweet as can be. He came from Tenn. Home of walking horses and has a rea pretty gait. Love to watch him trot.
You can control the size of the horse by the size of the jack and the mare Mules have all the urges but cannot reproduce. My Charley is nuetered.
