COLORADO IS BURNING
The news lately has been one of disaster. Right now at least six active wildfires are currently burning across Colorado...Waldo Canyon Fire near Colorado Springs, High Park Fire near Fort Collins, Flagstaff Fire near Boulder, Little Sand near Pagosa Springs, Treasure Fire near Leadville, and the Weber Fire burning near Mancos. The Governor of Colorado stated that he believes this is the most devastating fire in the written history of Colorado. Many families have lost their homes and possessions. Some of which can never be replaced. So far the loss of life is one and for that we can thank the God of our understanding.
On June 28th, Mistirose, one of our Sisters of the Heart, received this site: http://havingfundquilting.blogspot.com (updated) As you read it you get a clear picture of the devastation. Julie is a quilter and is trying to make 29 quilts (since posting this and hearing from us I think this number has grown) for these families. She has embodied the philosophy of The Sisters of the Heart in that our quilts provide loving warmth and caring to those who have a great need to know that we care. Mistirose brought this to us and we agreed with Julie and began a forum at cubits.org/craftycubit/thread/view/69895/ to bring her desire to many more quilters and crafty persons who might come forward and help. It has also touched one of our own.
So this is an impassioned request for all Sisters here on Cubits to come forward and help us in this project. We are in need of quilt blocks, fabric, whole quilt tops and anything else that will help see this be a success. Jump on over to http://cubits.org/craftycubit/thread/view/69895 and leave a post for LK (Linda Cartwright) aka Taters55 what you can do. Let me take this opportunity to thank you for your help and heart.

|I could give you a sheet full of statistics but to be more appropriate let me keep it short.|
I am a long time craft person. I learned to sew in high school and made some of my clothes. Over the years I learned to do various jewelry making and lapidary. I went rock hounding and turned many of my finds into jewelry. I discovered the fun of making quilts when I was 25 and later was encouraged by my sister Marti to make a pieced quilt. From that time on I have been hooked.
