Get you a mold.
a bag of (I use motar mix) concrete
You are going to need :
gloves
spatula or stirring stick
can of WD40 or spray cooking oil
rags or old t-shirts
buckets of water
bowl to mix cement in
I use an acrylic cement fortifyer
Gems, beads, Broken mirrors, glass
Wash your mold and dry it, after drying spray with the WD40 this keeps it from sticking to the mold. I use storebrand cooking spray instead of WD40. Save that for my Hubby.

We put enough concrete in bowl to fill the form. As you go along you should get better at guesstimating how much to use.
Usuallly a couple of scoops.

Fold the water into the cement. I add a little water at a time until I get the cement to a good consistency. I forgot to mention , now is the time to add the color if you want to stain the cement.

We pour it into the mold. Then If you wantto hang it, fold a piece of wire in half and I usually put a coup of curves it it so it won't slip out. A straight wire may come back out.

Now is the fun part. Carefully tip it out of the mold, You will have to wait a day to tip it out. Make the batter about like cookiedough. It should pull away from the mold much like a cake does in a pan. Takes practice to get it. I have tipped them out and have them brak, you get to build another walkway sometime. .Heart breaking but it can be done. Let's tip it out of the form and start decorating. Get a good Quality indoor/outdoor glue. The best kind is CLEAR. You can use a silcone. White shows thru the glass beads

Let the glue dry overnight. next we mix a sort of thin match of cement, we are going to mosiac those sets on . Get your latex gloves on and gently spread it over the gems and glass. Be careful and try to round the cement over the edge of the form. Want it to be smooth. Try to round it all the way around. have the cement same thickness as the mirror. It's going to be messy. I let it set awhile, then come back and use a sponge and water to get the sets to start popping back out to see. Rub the mirrors. I then cover with a wet T-shirt. let it set....

Finally, get your little brush out and buff that butterfly up. And it will come to life for you. I love it when I'm finished and it is laying there looking beautiful. I want to thank you for letting me do this tutorial, I am honored. Thanks

Charleen, you do have some great friends, I know that!

Thanks for visiting Mekos! And welcome :o)

It's kind of funny, I recognize so many names from Dave's but never really got to know too many except in the SW forum, like you Charleen, I saw you over there but we didn't really cross too much. It's neat to cross more paths and get to know more folks. I know I could get out more but I guess I like to stay in my comfort zone? I dunno.
