It's just a nick-name for her, along with Princess, Anna is her name & she is so little for her breed but a tough little thing, our only female pooch. so funny she loves finding big sticks and stumps to carry around and play catch.

So, the young man on whom I have relied to take care of my yard has decided he no longer has time/is willing to take care of it for me. I don't have a mower, and neither of my two backup helpers do, either. As a result, my two littlest dogs are having a great time in the back yard:

Those mower dudes do tend to fall away, don't they?
How about a couple of goats??
Thumbs up
They'll turn it into compost for you!

Maybe you could attach little flagpoles on their collars so you don't lose them? Rolling on the floor laughing

I know how you feel. My nephew was supposed to keep my yard mowed down and didn't. To busy with his girlfriend or playing games on the computer. so my yard got out of control. Weeds as high as my waist. Now that I can use the weed wacker, I'll knock it down and than get the mower going. Right now the mower bogs down in the tall weeds. Just can't handle it. Whistling

I shouldn't complain; he's done it at no cost since I am not working, and I AM grateful. It is more the lack of communication that is so frustrating. If he has become so busy, whyyyyyy couldn't he have told me BEFORE the yard got so wild and wooly? Blinking Hilarious!

This year I have smothered ALL my grass with newspaper. This extreme approach may not be for everyone, but I have been excited about it for some time. Some of my grass sets seed in mid-May and I never could catch it early enough. But this year I did.

AND SOON I will plant thyme and sedum and delosperma and alyssum and lobelia and johnny jump ups and our wonderful wild violets and California poppies..... and I will no longer need to mow!

ANd the feral cats and the birds and the toads and whoever else wants to come in to hang out without eating much will be welcome here!

I love the critters. I really do.

Got out this morning while it was still cool and pulled some of the weeds so the dogs could have a little clear space.

I am using cardboard to smother my grass and weeds. Although the poke weed seems to be able to push up thru the cardboard. I'm taking the shovel to it now. I've covered the cardboard with leaves, woodchips that have been decomposing for 3 yrs now. As I can I'll try to get a couple of dump trucks full of dirt to raise my beds.
