That's a really long time to be without a computer, Ella! My was just down for a week and it seemed like a long time! But, I was getting some book reading done and around to other things (like gathering seeds) that needed tending.

The other day I thought I saw a turtle down by the pond so I got my camera and zoomed in. Sure enough, it's a turtle!

How cute! I was coming home the other day, down one of towns, busiest main highways and here a car had stopped in the middle of the road. He was lucky other folks didn't plow into the back of him.

He had traffic backed up for about 15 minutes while he used his vehicle as a barricade to let this giant, old tortoise cross the road. As folks slowly went around him, some were shaking their heads, others were smiling when they seen what the hold up was. Me I smiled big time and held a thumbs up.

I love that story. I'm glad to know there are people who protect and respect nature like that. That old tortoise may very well be over a100 years old, and very rare. I give that person a thumbs up too! No, two thumbs-up!! Thumbs up

That's great! I once followed closely behind a raccoon in the street until he was safely in the woods. I feel so bad when I see so many of then that have been hit by cars. I don't care if most people consider them pests. We live in the country, so this is their territory!

Lovely mantis!
Thanks for knowing that ALL critters are fascinating and are VERY welcome here!
The furry ones are better huggers, but they are ALL wonderful!

Love praying mantises! They creep me out the way they'll jump & attack you, but still love them! Didn't see any this year, unfortunately. They're pretty rare for us here. :(

Pics of one of my kitties.. Nyx! Got him the day that my golden passed away from cancer (he told me it was time, so I had him put down.. it's not what's best for me, but what's best for him.. broke my heart & it took over a year before I could pet another golden w/o tearing up.. in fact, the onions are starting right now thinking about Wolfgang). I had made an agreement w/a lady I knew who has a small farm on the outskirts of town who had some barn kitties who had kittens and she agreed that I could adopt one of her kittens when I needed to.. and I really needed to.

Nyx the day we brought him home, Mother's Day 2011. He was born April 1, 2011. He was one of 15 kittens from 2 moms.. the kittens were honestly starving as there was too many kittens & not enough mama milk. He's 5 weeks old in this pic. I didn't have to bottle feed him, but I did heavily supplement his diet of Tiki Cat with KMR for his first month with me.

About a month later, he's still tiny, but adorable!!

And curious about toys from other kitties. The big kitty is my true-albino, Chaos.

Fastforward about a year & half (first pix were May 2011, now we're looking Sept 2012). He's gotten so big!!

Nyx is very food driven. He loves food. All food. Guess that's from his extreme babyhood. Here he is at almost 2 years old. That's my big food in my bootie.

Took this pic w/DH's camera.. you can see just how crossed-eyed this poor kitty is!
