Varanus panoptes is a relatively large Goanna, or Monitor, that occupies much of tropical and near-tropical Australia. I had the priviledge of sharing my place with them, until the Cane Toads arrived that is. I'd like to share some of my photographic memories of them.

I read with great interest your blurb on the panoptes in your garden in Arnhemland. I am writing a scientific note on observations of panoptes eating gilberts dragons, and how this will change as cane toads arrive. Do you have any actual observations of the panoptes eating the gilberts? Did the gilberts 'come back' after that panoptes disappeared with the arrival of toads?

I would really appreciate if you could email me at [email protected]

Thanks for your time,
Sean Doody

Reptiles and Frogs of Australia

Whilst first starting as a Crocodile Cubit, questions/comments about other reptiles made me decide to broaden it to other reptiles as well, and frogs. There's very many groups and species but I'll cover what I come in contact with and photograph.
