Carol, our Cane Toads came from Hawaii. They were introduced into Hawaii from South America because someone had the bright idea that they would kill all the sugar cane pests. Some people here liked that idea and so went over to Hawaii to collect a few. The rest is history.

I remember a couple of years back going into Burunga, an Aboriginal community, when the first wave of the toad invasion was coming through. There was a foul stench around the place and when I asked what it was the locals said the dead cats and dogs killed by the toads. You could imagine this was the same thing happening to a lot of the wildlife out bush.

I understand the Coqui Frog was introduced there by accident, in imported goods. Luckily we didn't have that accident.

Reptiles and Frogs of Australia

Whilst first starting as a Crocodile Cubit, questions/comments about other reptiles made me decide to broaden it to other reptiles as well, and frogs. There's very many groups and species but I'll cover what I come in contact with and photograph.
