Zig, I only recall having come across a red-bellied snake once, that is when an Italian immigrant who used to rent our 'other' house on the farm during pea picking season. He used to dig the drains in return for free rent, he came across one in a part of the drain where we used to occasionally take a dip to cool off! Brown snakes were rarely seen where I was, that was Hindmarsh Tiers in S.A. I do remember finding a huge snake behind the door in our outside lavatory, but I was very young and found out years later it was a baby snake! ![]() I found a photo of a sleepy lizard, it looks about right.. Tiliqua rugosa http://www.kemperphoto.com/wildlife_main.html Mouth open! They were scary when they did that, not a small lizard to a kid. ![]() http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Tiliqua_rugosa.jpg |
