Joke of The Week

Let Sleeping Dogs

One afternoon, I was in the backyard hanging the laundry when an old, tired-looking dog wandered into the yard.

I could tell from his collar and well-fed belly that he had a home. But when I walked into the house, he followed me, sauntered down the hall and fell asleep in a corner. An hour later, he went to the door, and I let him out. The next day he was back. He resumed his position in the hallway and slept for an hour.

This continued for several weeks. Curious, I pinned a note to his collar: “Every afternoon your dog comes to my house for a nap.”

The next day he arrived with a response pinned to his collar: “We have ten children - he’s trying to catch up on his sleep.”

Ret. Sgt is keeping us prepared!

The house I own is old (1843). It's getting a little rough around the edges, as old houses tend to do. I occasionally find myself in a self induced pity pile because I'm unable to do all of the things I'd like to do...then I see a homeless person and realize that I'm lucky to even own a home.

The same holds true with my car, although it is older than 1845 :)). Then I see someone walking to work, late at night, in the dark, cold, snowy weather...while I'm in my nice cozy, albeit a tad decrepit, car. Then I realize that I'm lucky to own a car.

An acquaintance of mine was in a deep depression because he lost a finger. Until he met a man who had lost his arm.

When we begin to feel sorry for ourselves because of  circumstances that we may find ourselves in, it is good to remember that no matter how bad we may have it there is always someone out there that is worse off than we are.

Just a little something to think about.

See you around the Universe!
