There's nothing new to report. My last conversation was with IB yesterday when I told them to simply bring me proof that the non-compete portion of my employment agreement with NameMedia was assigned to them.

I haven't heard back from them but when I do I'll take cubits.org offline. At that point, I'll send an email out to all the cubit owners letting them know how and when they can get all their content and pictures from the servers.

Until then, it's just a matter of waiting.

Dave/Trish:

I don't know if I posted this in another thread or not....if I did, forgive the repeat. I got an error message when I tried to post something this morning.

One of the guests at our graduation party tomorrow is an Intellectual Property attorney for IBM. If there are any questions you would like me to ask him, please email me at [email protected]. He's a good friend of my son's and I'm sure he'd let me pick his brain.

Dave and Trish, you and your family are all in my prayers. I know you would never do anything that you knew was wrong intentionally.

Even if there is a no-compete compliance agreement, how is this competing?

This is totally different. Most of us are still paying members of dg. So what is the problem? I know I for one will be very hesitant to continue to pay membership fees to some company that is so unfair to you as they have proven to be so far.

We're hanging in there with you, hoping for good news!

Charlene, it's possible that a "non-compete" clause would cover more ground than "don't go creating another gardening site." If you look at the wide variety of Cubits topics and then at the wide variety of sites that IB administers, you can see why they'd view Cubits as a thread, especially given its rapid growth during its first 3 months.

I'm just hoping they are wrong about any such clause transferring to IB!

And I'm still appalled at the lack of communication... they had plenty of opportunity to give Dave a heads-up. My DH suggested that maybe they were waiting to see if Cubits was actually a threat before acting, hoping not to create a big upset over at DG if they didn't have to, or figuring that acting on it sooner after the sale would make the hubbub worse. I don't know.

I do know a tremendous amount of effort by a lot of people (especially Dave & Trish of course) has gone into Cubits, so I'm praying that we'll be able to continue, if not now then at least down the road.

I've circled March 2011 on my calendar -- but in pencil, hoping I can erase it if this storm passes us by after all.

(edited because I typed "2010" by mistake!)

no more words, just prayers.

Always hoping for the rebirth of cubits in March 2011 if we need to shut down. And we will be back with flags waving, horns honking and confetti everywhere.

Definitely! I think I posted this morning on the "Thursday" thread, before we realized the basement was flooding (guess God figured I needed a distraction! It's OK now.)... but that thread must have been moved.

I posted a question but didn't get to see the answer before the thread was moved. Is the end of the work day IB's Pacific time or your time in Texas Dave?
