A week or so ago I bought a new computer. With the old system I had very little trouble uploading images from my computer to cubits forums. Now, I'm having difficulty uploading even the smallest image. The only one that has loaded so far is smaller than what the cubits image re-sizer would make it, and tops out at 50.7 KB. That image has only loaded once - I've had it trying to upload into this post for about 10 minutes and it's still.... wait, here it is.![]() I usually re-size my images to about 800x600 pixels - maybe 180 KB. Are these too large now? I'm using JPEG images. I'm using Firefox as my browser, although it may not be the latest version. .......or could it be the type of computer I bought? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. |

chelle, the sizes you are using are fine. I just uploaded several large images and it was as fast as normal. So the problem must be either with your computer, or more likely, with your internet connection. Are pages loading in the normal time or is it slower now too? If you are using the same ISP as before, check that your new computer is using a current version of whichever browser that you use. |

Zany, Thank you. My ISP is the same and pages generally load faster now. I just tried to add an image to an E-mail with the same results, so I'm not sure where to go from here. ![]() |

I am often ![]() I did a quick search and found that it might be a problem with a setting on the computer. They recommend changing the NIC setting...But I have no idea how/where that is done. |

![]() ![]() I'm searching the Web for related queries and I'm not finding any. Strange. I must be phrasing my question wrong (???). ![]() |

I queried Slow upload, fast download. |

I found some information that might help whilst looking around today. I've only had the opportunity to try a couple of suggestions so far.....no resolution yet. Bunch of folks say that there may be compatibility issues between 64 bit versions of something in Windows 7.........and I forget what else. ![]() I did bookmark it though, perhaps I'll be able to try again soon. Thanks for the help, Brenda! ![]() |

I wish I had been able to help more but this is a new issue that I have luckily never had to deal with. |

![]() How incredibly frustrating. I managed to get the old system booted up and look, this photo loaded right up! Grrrrrr!! |
How frustrating! It has to be a setting on the new system somewhere. I sure hope that you can get it resolved soon. |

It's gorgeous, Chelle!!! |

Thanks! That's one of the photos that has been pressing me to resolve this uploading issue. I'm glad that the old computer decided to work again, even if it's only temporary. Maybe by the time it finally quits for good I'll have the new one figured out. ![]() |

what type of PC did you buy? My son-in-law is a computer repair tech with all the licenses...so he might be able to help...maybe http://cubits.org http://cubits.org/gourds/ http://cubits.org/Diabetes/ http://cubits.org/DMEnterprises/store Tahlmorra lujhala mei wiccan (The fate of a man rests always within the hands of the gods) |

LaVonne, It's an HP Pavilion g6, running Windows 7. This computer did come with a different security system. I wonder if that might be the problem? At the bottom of my screen there's a message that says, "waiting for cubits. org"......forever. That leads me to think that something is blocking/hampering the connection somewhere......maybe?? [I'm using the exact same ISP and equipment back and forth for both computers, so I wouldn't think it would be related so much to that.] |
check the settings on your security system....it may be set to restrictive..and all it would need is lowering it a bit....also check your firewall....it could block you as well. http://cubits.org http://cubits.org/gourds/ http://cubits.org/Diabetes/ http://cubits.org/DMEnterprises/store Tahlmorra lujhala mei wiccan (The fate of a man rests always within the hands of the gods) |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() We have some resolution; though I'm not sure what I'll be able to do for a long-term solution. I'm using another ISP at the moment and now I see how quickly and easily these uploads can be done. These photos went right through, in only a matter of seconds....with the new computer. Thanks so much to everyone who assisted me with getting this figured out. ![]() |
Arrrgh! You mean that your ISP was blocking your uploads? That stinks! |
I *think* I've finally figured this one out. The purchase of the new computer happened to coincide with the bright idea I had of changing a setting on my camera. I should have known better than to mess with it! ![]() Anyway, to get back to the topic .... I evidently changed the resolution which resulted in a file size significantly larger than my norm. I figured out how to change the quality of those photos in my photo editing program so that they're back to the normal file size and now they zip right in! I've only tried this a few times, and just today, but so far I'm having success uploading photos again. I need to change that setting back! ![]() Thanks again to everyone who offered assistance with this issue. ![]() ![]() |
