We enjoy breeding new dahlias!

This is a picture of our 2020 seedling that was the result of a cross with a specialized breeding parent to create florets that cup well. We lost the breeding parent but in a way I am not sorry as it was a poor specimen of a dahlia that grew just over 2 feet tall. I took a picture of it a few years ago and may run into it again and post it. If you think this one cups a lot the parent was beyond belief. Breeding waterlilies is extremely difficult and we are finally getting some nice seedlings.
We like to place a sign on our porch that says: We are in the garden. Really, we are always in the garden.
