We enjoy breeding new dahlias!
My wife and I were talking about waterlilies and why there are no purple waterlilies. In the classification book there is only Karma Lagoon, a bedding variety(that we grew for a year but did not keep). It is our belief that if a really nice royal purple(dark purple with a touch of blue pigment) were ever introduced that it would command a very high price. And as we discussed it further, we have never had a purple waterlily seedling. We discussed our crosses this last year and doubt that any will appear in our seedlings. We are trying to devise a strategy to breed one, but it will be few year away.

Any comments on purple waterlilies?
We like to place a sign on our porch that says: We are in the garden. Really, we are always in the garden.
