We were 102° at 5:30 with a heat index of 112. My plants are suffering something terrible and it's almost too hot to water them. I do not even want to go out, period.
High in Central Missouri was 94 today. Weather.com is calling for low 90s to mid 90s the next 10 days. This is a definite cooling spell for us. For 11 consecutive days we had 100 degrees or higher. It was too hot to do anything outside.
No rain AGAIN. We've been over 90° for I think 11 days in a row, above 100° for the last 4 days. Supposd to be 87° today. It's incredibly dry. I give up.
We went over 28 days with no rain. I was watering twice a day for the last week and still things wilted. The grass is really growing now that it rained last night. I think it grew an inch over night! I need to cut grass before it gets over a hundred degrees again. Farmers were losing their corn crops around here. I hope this solved the problem for them all!
Doris - What would they do if they caught you watering? I don't think I could just let my stuff die. I hope you can sneak out there and water some. I know I would. I'd go out with a glass of water and it would just accidentally be spilled on my favorite plant.
Clint the farmers around here have already plowed the corn under, beans could be next, sure will be high groceries next year.
They tell us that our lawn may not be dormant if we do not get rain very soon, it will be dead, and it sure looks it.

I doubt it will do any good, I have watered so much my water bill doubled last month, and still my plants are dying, guess I will just pray they come back next year.

I am afraid to look at my water bill.
I have been under a water ban before and it was a sad thing. I had to watch my neighbors sit there while their vegetable gardens died. There was nothing you could do.
