Though it has a case of mites going on (so i cut it after this shot)...you can see the yellow is much stronger on these guys vs cleopatra or chiquita

Mine was really coming up nicely this year with a lot of new growth, and then the deer ate off the top half of plant. Grumbling Grumbling

How long does it hold its color? All of the yellows I've grown fade quickly.

For me it was the best at holding color of any yellows I have had.

Can you be more specific on how long it holds its color? Would you estimate 2 or 3 days or more? I picked up a nice Sombrero Lemon Yellow at Lowe's today for $8.00. The flowers are a little smaller than some but the color is bright yellow.

If I recall right it was close to a week it stayed a nice yellow , I know it lasted longer then Summer Breeze,Lemon Yellow which both did not come back , Cleopatra , any of the yellow Cheyenne Spirits and Chiquita. If you count Secret Glow and Aloha as yellows they both hold color well also. Lemon Yellow held color better then most of the others but I did not like the flowers.

Very nice. That WILL be the next one I buy. Buds here are getting close and I am seeing some mite issues. They ruin all the fun!

I like the nice clean yellow. It contrasts beautifully with the foliage. Did you get it online or locally?

Looks great I have to wait for it to send up more buds, then again I might have to get another one. One of my favorites.

Nevermore44, nice picture and a lot of yellow flowers.

I purchased two Leilanis from Romence Gardens earlier this growing season. One is planted in the block planter which is in the hot boiling sun. Even in the hot sun it's a vibrant yellow color. (The other Leilani is still waiting to be planted.) I'd kind of given up on yellows for they seem to turn white in a very few days.

Two years ago I bought 2 from Romence and both died within 2 weeks. Romence is too expensive for that to happen and 1 was a replacement for the first one. Sad

The two Leilanis are the only two expensive coneflowers I purchased this season. I was after the yellow. You are right, they are too expensive to not make it.

Romence is a very good nursery but if I'm paying that much for a plant I'd rather buy locally. For yellows I bought Some. Lemon Yellow at Lowe's and 2 Meteor Yellows from Santa Rosa Gardens plus I have 2 Cleopatra from last year and yellow Cheyenne Spirit plants. Leilani is pretty though and I would like to have it just not for the price.
