This is a very nice red, very similar to Hot Papaya but a deeper color that doesn't change. I may add another one or two next spring.

There's a fine line between fishing and just standing on the shore looking like an idiot.

Your picture definitely shows a coneflower that is a keeper. I bought a couple of those earlier in the season. It's either that they haven't bloomed, or they are blooming and I didn't pay enough attention and thought they were Hot Papaya.

I like it a lot. Hot Papaya is great but this one is more compact with shorter stems. It holds color forever too. Meteor Yellow holds its color too but it isn't very yellow. Mine is almost the same color today as it was a month ago and by coneflowers that is a LONG time. Not to get off topic but I have the Dixie series and they hold their color too. Dixie Sun is fantastic.

I was hoping Meteor Red would have lasted till the end of season sale , but I missed it. Always next year. I agree about Dixie , very good color retention. Bob did you let your Scarlet bloom.

Scarlet tried to bloom but every flower was disfigured by mites so I finally gave up and cut every stem off. It's done for the year. Belle and M Red are also done but I've allowed Red to open one last flower but cut off all others. Both Belle and M Red were very floriferous for a first year plant, they had lots of buds. I'm really hoping that they overwinter. Next year I hope to add a couple more of Sun, Belle and M Red. Since M Yellow didn't look so great I'm not adding another.
