A BIT ABOUT MY GARDEN
Yay! We are finally living in Blanco, Texas, having sold our home in New Braunfels. We have 30 acres in this beautiful Texas hill country and it will be fun to develop the landscaping on this hill that used to be part of a cattle ranch. Of course, I already have a lot of Texas natives (some would call them weeds) including poison ivy! I have only one bed so far in which I have put some of my transplants from New Braunfels, but still have many more in pots to plant. I have to wait until our house if finished to make any more beds (currently living in a 5th wheel trailer!). It is so exciting to have this large blank canvas! We also have a fledgling orchard (peaches, pears, nectarines, apricots, apples, pecans, avocados, figs) and a few other things like blackberries, strawberries and asparagus. This city girl is embracing a new homesteading life in the country!

Most of my area is full hot Texas sun, although I do have some partial shade under our oak trees. I have no full shade, so would have no luck with plants that require that, unless they could be a house plant. Fortunately, we invested in a deer fence, so that is no problem although we are still tussling with an armadillo digging in my one bed and random acts of violence by raccoons and porcupines! Drought tolerant plants would be wonderful here, but not required.
