If you have any other use for them, any other direction to send them, don't send them to me. But if you have a batch on hand, even old (even dead!) seed taking up space but you don't want to just throw them away, then feel free to throw them my way!

THINGS I WOULD CARE NOT TO GET
Vegetables or fruits unless specifically requested

Trees, vines

Weeds. Although they do really well here, I already have more than I need.

A BIT ABOUT MY GARDEN
I have a little under three sub-tropical acres of dry Florida sand, Slash Pines, Cabbage Palms and Cypress trees. I have lived here for a number of years, but one thing I understood immediately: I will never be able to tame this much yard. I will never have neatly trimmed hedges or a well manicured lawn. But that's OK. I really prefer a more rugged, natural look.

My first approach was to replace weeds with landscape shrubs. Colorful blooms were a bonus but not a primary concern. Lack of high maintenance was more important. Then I saw a hummingbird. That gave me a new direction to focus on, which I have been doing for a few years, and am still working on.

My most recent motivation is my granddaughter, whom we care for a few days a week. She is now 3½ yrs old and loves flowers and butterflies. So now I have provided her with her own small flower bed, to which my wife added small statues of Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse and Tinkerbell. So now I have been acquiring flowers for her.

Since her bed is small, I needed small plants for that, such as Violas, dwarf Snapdragons and Thumbelina Zinnias. Also, because her bed is small, her influence has overflowed into several other beds. I need flowers for color, flowers she can pick and give to her Grammi and to her Mommy, flowers with fragrance for her to smell, and flowers to bring in the butterflies.

Through all this, my own interests and tastes have expanded exponentially. With my wife's medical expenses, funds for landscaping are low priority, so it was wonderful to realize I had inherited at least part of my mother's green thumb. Growing new plants from seed and from cuttings has been a great way to expand my plant collection! Not to mention the therapy value in pulling weeds and watching things grow, as well as the joy to my heart when my granddaughter exclaims how beautiful her flowers are, and in seeing how happy she is as she chases butterflies.
