MY WISHLIST ( 10 things I really want)
I love edibles in general, and would especially love new ones I don't already grow. I don't want many ornamental plants, but I am open to a few, especially ones that make good companions to my food garden, require little maintenance, and have a nice fragrance or bright, cheerful colors. Aside from the specifics below, unusual varieties of any veggie would be appreciated, even things like tomato, pepper, and squash that I've already oinked several of.

1. Florence fennel- Got it!
2. Brassicas - Got plenty of new ones to try.
3. Garden beans, especially bush varieties - Got plenty.
4. Heirloom tomatoes - Got plenty
5. Melons (any kind) - Got plenty.
6. Tomatillo - Got it!
7. Pineapple sage - Got it!
8. Herbs for cooking or tea - Got a good assortment.
9. Flowers/herbs that will deter flea beetles or cabbage moths - Got several, but open to suggestions
10. Sweet corn - Got plenty
11. Ultra-hot peppers - Got plenty
12. Beets that aren't red (yellow, pink, white, or bullseye types)
13. Hardneck garlic (true seeds, bulbils, or cloves)
14. Celery (especially types good for celeriac)
15. Yellow wax bush beans
16. Golden zucchini (not yellow summer squash)
17. A perennial vining/climbing plant with edible fruit such as hardy kiwi, blackberry, or one of the hardier Passiflora types (really, just one plant).
18. Sorrel
19. Comfrey
20. Lovage
21. Culantro
22. A shade tolerant, low maintenance climber for my mailbox - maybe a clematis? (again, just one plant)
23. Gooseberry (Ribes sp. or Physalis peruviana)

THINGS I DON"T WANT
Non-edibles that will require much maintenance.
Perennials with a winter chilling requirement more than one or two frosts.
Anything that can't handle heat, humidity, heavy rain, or sandy soil.
Anything highly toxic to people, dogs, or honeybees.
Trees, shrubs, vines, or large perennials.

ABOUT MY GARDEN
Norfolk, VA in USDA zone 8. Mild winters, typical southern summers, always humid.

Small space and container garden. Unamended soil is almost pure sand, but I'm slowly improving it.

I like to eat everything I grow, and grow as much as possible of what I eat. I very much prefer edibles over ornamentals.

I'm trying to learn about companion planting.
