Ella's Garden Plants from A to Z: Rhododendron Sir Robert, Azalea

Common Name: Azalea

Family: Ericaceae

Genus: Rhododendron

Cultivar or Variety: Sir Robert

Characteristics of Plant
Don't want to deal with large Azalea bushes that need constant pruning and that looks good all year long?

Sir Robert is a dwarf azalea that makes a small, evergreen shrub. These qualities and bushy mounding habit make it perfect for a stand-alone plant or as part of a small grouping or larger border.

Huge 2-3" blooms show up starting in May on this mini-azalea.

While most azaleas need part shade to full shade, this cultivar has been thriving in our southern full sun and 90+F heat.

I would recommend leaving it in the pot for awhile if it is kept in hot full sun, to make sure it doesn't get tip burn in your area.
