Yes, "notepad" and copy & paste are a piggy's best friend! ![]() I started my list in the wee hours last night so I don't think many people have seen it. I'll be adding more later. http://cubits.org/ellasgarden/db/hogwildseedswap/view/95622/ |

To adjust popcorn to 14% moisture, I grind the seeds then weigh out a portion of the flour and put it in a shallow dish (aluminum foil) in the oven at 250 F for about two hours. Then weigh again to calculate percent moisture. And add enough water to bring it to 14%, shaking frequently the first few hours to distribute the water evenly. Having the proper amount of water in the seed can double the final volume of popcorn,![]() Author of Mother Earth News Blog about Landrace Gardening: http://www.motherearthnews.com/search.aspx?tags= Lofthouse |

tcs1366 wrote: Terese, I was really hoping for a midnight barn-opening hoedown, but it worked out. My four year old daughter had an appointment near the hospital, and I abandoned her there so I could sit outside the emergency room scarfing up their wifi in my gravy- warm car waiting for the bell to fry up some bacon... I had to pick her up at nine, so I was happy as a medium rare pork tenderloin that you let us piggies in when you did. She would have been lonely. ![]() CC CC |

I think the tips of my plants have been devoured, but I'll check on them for you. All that's left are stems. Sorry, Terese. These guys ate everything on that plant that they possibly could! ![]() |

Chelle -- thanks for checking. I have some "Silky Gold" seeds, but they never do as well as Scarlets. Terese -- Leesburg, FL & Lake Delton, Wi My Email is my userID at hotmail.com |

regarding Micyrey -- Looks like she backed out of the swap as she was too busy to participate. I've removed her from the list, and her database has been 'pushed' to the bottom, so folks don't accidentally click on it. Terese -- Leesburg, FL & Lake Delton, Wi My Email is my userID at hotmail.com |

I forgot how we handle survivors. Do they oink, or do we offer seeds based on their wants or both? Are you looking for Asclepias curassavica tcs? I have some in my database, but I am not sure if they are in my seed box. I'll check. They would be from an earlier swap. I direct sowed some milkweed in a wild corner, but none bloomed this year. I'll see if any come back. This one is tender in my area, so it probably won't. I have one oink left today and I still haven't seen everyone's lists yet. It is fun anyway. There is some confusion about my two purple zinnas. They are both gorgeous, but they look identical in a vase. I got seeds for both 'Zinnia elegans 'Purple Prince' and 'Lilac Queen' from nbgard last year. I late spring sowed them (wintersowing in bottles in late spring, a great method for gardeners with spring fever and crowded light shelves.) They were planted in groups via clump of seed method in different parts of the garden. Prince was a bit taller. Queen had more flowers (but she may have also had more plants, I didn't count the number of seedlings per clump). I am going to grow both again next year. Some people have requested both seeds. I don't want them to be disappointed with two zinnias that look so much alike. Pictures on the internet look like mine. I wouldn't be surprised if both are the same variety given different names by different companies. Both are over 3' tall with big violet blooms which looked expecially nice combined with 'Green Envy' zinnias in arrangements. If I had to grow only one of the two next year, it would be 'Lilac Queen'. However, I am going to grow both again. I am having trouble accessing the photos on my camera card. Hopefully, I'll find some photos. I am trying to salvage the data now. Don't you hate when you forget to back up your camera card..... |

If you can find some A. curassavica, that would be great.... ironic... the ones I brought in from the back yard, and now have in my bathroom window -- it looks like a bloom is forming... go figure. those Zinns are pretty... I think I have some Zinn seeds left, but took them all to WISC and forgot to bring them back.... huge baggie of seeds i misplaced and refound in Oct...Ooops. Uuuummmm -- When I started this thread this morning, I had completely forgotten about the "Chat" thread in the Cottage Garden forum.... It was brought to my attention that having so many threads may get confusing as to where to post. I was hoping I could "move" these posts into the other thread -- but it doesn't work that way.... all I'd be able to do is move this entire thread into Cottage Garden Forum and close the other one, or just close this one. Any suggestions?? in the CG forum, it's Piggy Chat Q & A and this is the 2nd to Piggy Swap Sign up and Chat ~~ so Ella did have 2 chat threads going....
