We came from here: http://cubits.org/ellasgarden/thread/view/75373/?offset=240#end_of_thread

"Welcome Back!" to all the former seasoned Piggies and a "Glad to Have You Join US!" New Piggies to the 2013 Piggy SEED SWAP Chat threads!

Through these threads you can kick back and just chat about your gardens and plants, ask questions about seed and plants and share or ask gardening questions.

While most folks chatting on these threads are in the swap, this forum is open to everybody. Don't want to swap, but would like to just chat, share knowledge or ask questions? Feel free to make yourself at home and jump in at anytime. The gardeners here are some very knowledgeable and friendly folks.

For easy maneuverability, you will find links to the different areas of the swap.

( Please note: Some links may not be workable yet, they are still under construction. )

Welcome Back Ella glad you are back with us. Feel better soon

Made my entry in the new DB and it was fine. I'm not done yet as I still have to get seeds ready to list but I got part of it up.

I've already copied what I had done for this year to the new database. No problem at all!
I've just begun working on my list of seeds to offer, but this time I am adding the labels to a Word document as I go. I am determined to be organized this year and not have a seed-packing frenzy at the end.

Patrob.... Glad you got it changed without any problems. Heheheheheheh... Every year I say I am going to be more organized. All these years and I still chase my tail around. (snicker..snicker...) I have gotten a bit better though.

I do like how you and Patti have set up already your trades coming in and going out sections. Will make it a lot easier and than all you will have to do is add or subtract folks names.

Mindy... Good Girl. : )

Returning Piggies, you can go ahead and start setting up your Seed List Databases, I'm still working on the other sections.

I always try to rotate the days and times around so folks who maybe work one shift and can't get to computer can have a chance at the beginning lists.

This year the SWAP will start on SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 16, 2013 at 5:00 PM EST. and will run until Midnight on DECEMBER 16th.

Alrighty!!! Whew!!!! I think I finally have everything up and running. Would appreciate it if somebody would check and make sure all the links work. If I have forgotten something, need to change something, now is the time to let me know.

Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing I know I am a seedaholic. There ain't no doubt about it. What a lovely habit to have. Hilarious!

I have lots of things planned for this swap. Have been collecting lots of goodies for fun and games time when we slow down. Not telling what the things are, you'll just have to be surprised when you get your box. Whistling

Howdy Gang ~~ yes, still alive and kickin'

had a super busy yr, with not too much gardening, but a bit of travel... this year was Alaska, and I loved every minute of it.

as I was telling Ella -- I'll be moving to FLA in 2015, so I plan to get rid of almost all of my seeds that I have on hand, as I will have to shift gears for southern plants, though I will also be a snow bird, living in WI half the yr.

Just harvested some Mystica and Rocky Mountain Penstemons today.... they need homes. Zone 3-8 I believe.
I think I can gather some Veronica, Darwin's Blue too. Just love that plant. Taking it with when I move.

So glad the other 'helpers' are here to help Ella as I have been so absent, though I am willing to keep lending a hand where needed.

Is Lea still around?

I think tonight I can spend a bit of time updating my "stuff".

found where I left off... didn't read it all, just scanned.

So glad to read Julianna is alive and well... as other stated, no need to explain, just so pleased you are OK. we all were so worried.

Found a more recent image for my avatar, it's only a few yrs old, not a decade old.... though I did look cute being blond and suntanned, and in my 30's..... Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing

though here I am in the pool in Skagway, AK ... gotta love the pool with snow capped mountains in the background.

Julianna,

I'm really glad you're back, and getting back up on the horse. I bet a lot of us have some familiarity with various degrees of depression, and it's plenty of a burden without worrying about other people. As we said in NJ: "Fuhgeddaboutit!" It isn't a character thing, or weakness, or cowardice. It's more like a foreign saboteur or computer virus that sneaks into your head and messes up your brain chemistry.

>> I still have all of your seeds packed up from last year.

Cool! I still have some things "almost ready to send out" to the DG "New Bee Seeds" people from 2-3 years ago.

"If you're happy and you know it, thank your meds!"

Ella,

I hope your back feels better soon! I'm glad you got away from the rattler, but too bad he got away from you!

No frosts here yet. I think 41 was our lowest nightime temp. (WA coast around Seattle). But someone just 30-50 miles north has been having light frosts for weeks.

I was going to urge you to take your time setting up the database, but you were all done before I posted! I think the First Law Of Seed Trading should be "Don't Worry!" and the Second Law should be "Have Fun". With all the work you do as a gift to your loyal piggies, I think your Third Law should be "Remember Ella First!".

Chelle,

If you have more firewood than you need, you could always partially bury the logs or rounds and branchs, m and put a raised bed on top of them. Call it "Hugelculture" and it will keep your beds suspended far above existing tree roots until the wood decays over a period of years, and subsides.

Dave has an article about that in ATP. Want me to find it and post a link?

Misti,
Is that White Sage, Salvia Apiana, like Native Americans burn for incense or smudging? It's not food if it's incense! Maybe you could sell it online as smudge sticks, perhaps interwoven with cedar slivers. Or sell a big batch of loose sage to some company that re-sells it as smudge sticks.

Hey Rick, its actually the sage from the grocery store. the ones you see in the plastic packets for fresh cooking. They were on sale for 99 cents. I was standing there picking out mushrooms and was staring at them, hubby came over and just looks at me and says "I bet you could" Rolling on the floor laughing I said I bet I could too and bout some lol. He has been with a gardener too long. anyway I got 3 sages to root and they have gone nuts. So I would assume they are the edible type. I agree

Thanks, Rick. I've already posted some of these log beds in the Hugelkulture Forum, and somewhere I posted about a hugelkulture bed for melons and squash, although the spelling's probably wrong. That may be part of the reason I "lost" it. *Blush* I'm planning a few more large beds made this way, but I'm not going to construct them until the last trees are down and cleared away.

Joseph, does this look like one of your landrace rutabagas? I was really wowed by it, especially since it's my first. Thumbs up

Could be one of my turnips. I haven't grown rutabaga seed.
