Another year has rolled on by and it is time for the annual PiGGY SEED SWAP! Hurray!

This is the 2013 OFFICIAL SIGN_UP SHEET

Before signing-up, please read the OFFICIAL RULES. The rules and OFFICIAL STARTING LINE can be found HERE

Yep, it's time to push the dust bunnies out of the way from under the bed, empty the cupboards out, look in the fridge and any other place you store seeds and get them ready to swap. Get your unwanted, unloved, didn't have time for, along with any seeds you may have saved, or I finally was able to grow one and save seed (Yippe!), and any new seeds you may collected or purchased together to trade, but don't forget to polish up the hoofs and practice your oinking abilities while your at it.

Whether your a new participant or a returning Piggy...

Welcome to this years PiGGY SEED SWAP. Also, affectionately known as the HOG WILD SWAP too.

This is a seed swap that has been going on for many years. It is held once a year and runs for a month. This annual event is a chance for folks to trade harvested seed, leftover seed hanging around, unused or leftover trade seeds, or extra purchased seed. It is a chance to clean out your seed boxes and fridges, and fill them up with new treasures!

Everyone is welcome to join. Folks from other forums or sites, are welcome to join in here too. If you are not a member of this cubit yet, you will need to click the "Join" this cubit button located on right side of page or bottom and become a member to participate.

We have three groups of folks in this swap. We have what is known as the "Regular folks," the "Newbies" and the "Survivor folks."

Regular folks are returning participants. Newbies are folks joining this year that have some seed to offer to others and want to get seed too.

Survivors are those folks who have survived from disasters such as fires, floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, other natural disasters this past year and need to rebuild their gardens.

The regular folks on this swap are a generous group and every year they have opened their hearts and shared the bounty of their seeds and experience to those less fortunate. Survivors are invited to join in for free. No seeds, only postage is necessary. You will receive from the generosity of the regular swap people free seeds to rebuild your gardens. You do need to play and pick right along with the regular folks though. Also, if you are in the survivor group, you need to cmail your physical address to me. All Survivors areas are verified for disasters.

Last year over 14,000 packets of seeds that were shared and distributed between participants.

If your in the Regular (returning) or Newbie Piggy Group, you can post below your intent to join and proceed to the PiGGY SEED SWAP DATABASE and start getting set up HERE

You can look around and see how other folks have set theirs up, or make your own way. If you need help just holler. You can put your list up all at once or just a few things at a time. The choice is yours, but if your in the Regular or Newbie group, you must have some seed listed before you will be allowed to oink from others, even if it is just a few types of seeds. You can always add more at anytime during the swap.

If your in the Survivor Group, you will still need to go to the same link above and get your name posted and fill out the Wishlist Part and the section about your garden area. In essence, what happens is your Database will consist of your name, cmail addy, seeds you would like to get, things you prefer not to get, a bit about your garden. You do not need to have a HAVES list, but you do need to participate on the threads and oink for your seed along with the regular folks.

Some folks have lots of seeds to share, some folks just a few and that is fine. Some folks are new to gardening and saving or even buying and growing. Unless you specifically state you only want the seeds you oinked for, all participants will be receiving back a minimum of 100 packets of assorted types seed.

This is a fun time, a time to make new friends, laugh, share, joke, and share growing experiences through the winter and have a chance to try and grow new things.

If your interested in maybe joining it this year, please go ahead and start putting your name down here. If possible, please try and remember to put Regular or Survivor too. No biggy if ya forget. There will be a cut -off of regular members I just not sure of what the number will be yet. There will be no limit on Survivors joining.

If you have questions feel free to ask on this thread or you can go to HERE Our discussion thread in the Cottage Gardening Forum. Even though we hold the swap one time a year, we chat all year long. Feel free to pop in and just chat anytime even if you don't join swap.

Ok, start practicing those hog calls and Suuuu--eee-iii-'s. I'm sure a few of you are a bit rusty from last year. Hopefully by now you at least have removed all the mud. As the barnyard has been cleaned and fresh hay spread around, clean hoofs are required.

Feel free to post about this swap where your permitted and invite your friends along to join in the fun.

EVERYBODY, WHETHER YOUR NEW OR RETURNING, PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU READ THE OFFICIAL RULES THREAD.

Dayjilly.... Sure it is fine to upload pics into your database and if ya get a chance would appreciate having them uploaded into the A to Z database too, even if you only get a chance to fill in the name and upload the pic.

I still need to transfer pics from last year swap to the A to Z database from those that gave permission.

Don't Sweat the Small Stuff!
Me, me me! I'm here. Hurray! Regular piggy. Snort, snort! I'll be rummaging through my older seeds to share. Star, I haven't been able to collect much seed here. First it rained everyday (sometimes several times a day) for about 2 months straight (I kid you not!). So, I lost a lot of plants. Now, we're having a very short fall season. Temps this week are in the 70s for the next few days, at night in the 30s with a freeze warning. Grumbling Some of the plants I have left have not set seeds. But in any case, I'll have some seeds to share.
