Glad the sorbet grew for you. As I have never tried growing any dahlia seeds collected, it is good to know that they do grow. And your seedling is beauty, Until last year, I never considered looking for seeds from dahlias since I always assumed that splitting tubers were the only way to go.

Bad news/good news
Went out to look for more Sorbet seeds, but there was not any. Next to it is a Jac's Janet which had a bunch of seeds. It is growing in the midst of Sorbet and Tioga dawn, so I think it will be a lovely bloom regardless of what it turns out to be. Have enough for 6 oinks.

Jac's Janet is the yellow/pink towards the bottom, above it is Tioga Dawn, to the left, on top behind the zinnia is salsa Picante

Soils, I only grow tubers from tubers as well. That was Sorbet, not a seedling! I simply don't have the patience to hope for a double when I can be assured of it with a named cultivar!

CC - thanks for the clarification. So, the question still is, has there been successes with seeds grown from dahlia seeds received from the swaps????
