May I please have a list of everyone whose package is lost? then I can start gathering up replacement seeds for them also, in case they are not found.

Rising.. sent you the list of names.

They will find them for sure I feel just gonna take a bit of time. The other folks in that mailbag I sure hunting for their's too. Some was going to military folks.

Maybe in the meantime folks can hunt through their seed boxes and start pulling out some of the seeds from past swaps that have never gotten sown yet. Would be nice to see some of those seeds come available for other folks next year.

I too have everything still all out here, won't clean up or put my seeds away until all the piggies have been delivered.

We just gotta think positive. Knowing from past experiences I figure by the time they get emails to Ft. Mitchell emails back to CA and than to Montgomery and back to Ca probably take at least a week. All the Po's will need to be contacted that the truck picked up after leaving here too. Hoping things move faster though.

I called this morning and was told that I can't file a complaint because it's already been done. So...I guess my call won't add any impetus toward finding those packages.
Time will tell, I guess. At first, I held off calling because I had the thought that they might be on a truck involved in an accident or something...but since they show no signs of movement at all, I rather doubt that.

Group hug , Ella. This has to be 20x more frustrating for you than it is for us...hang in there, my friend. Lovey dubby

No progress on USPS site for me either, yet. Hopefully, finding the packages is a bigger priority now!

Temps dipped below zero again last night. It is a chilly 9'F at the moment. We might get more snow Thursday. This has been a colder than usual winter. I have never been so anxious for spring! At least the heat works and the power is staying on - except for the occasional blip, argh.

I want to get mailed south also, Ella. My friend in FL was sitting by the pool yesterday.

My local post office just called me. I guess our complaints to the 800 number go directly to our local post offices. She was very nice. I explained the situation. She is shocked that they lost a whole bag of mail. She said to call her directly next time and she will deal with it. that would be easier, the local post office answers their phone.

I went to corner store this morning to get a few supplies to hold over this next ice storm and stopped at Po too, to check. Jessie called Joel plant manager in Montgomery and they still hunting through there.

Debra, the main postmistress down here and one ya have seen in pics fom piggy journey before, got all my CA's from yesterday. She called me about 8 this morning cuz they left first three digets off tracker and she couldn't figure out what the numbers they furnished were.

I'll be talking to her sometime this afternoon again. She was calling Opelika this morning. They already have the big big head in Phenix City going through that plant. The big wigs are mad, they are already putting new policies into effect so this don't happen again.

The truck left Ft. Mitchell and went to Phenix City which is as big a hubub like Montgomery. They have all the pos on alert. Thing is that other than Montgomery all the po folks go home at 5 and 6 pm. And they still have to deal with customers coming in. So gonna take them a while to have folks hunt.

Plant manager in Montgomery thinks the bag may have gone to NDC. The National distribution center, not sure where that is, but it would have gone to Atlanta and Atlanta still all backed up and with this new storm they gonna be shut down and backed up even more.

Thanks Chelle, I am stressing, not doing these blood clots on my heart any good, goobling asprins like crazy. All these years, never the first problem , thsi is a first and a major one. Them seeds been n my bed, all over my home and all lovingly handled and I feel like each one is my kid. I not gonna stop and I not gonna rest til they found.

Sorry you got a rude person Chelle, ya there a bunch of them out there. Some folks don't realize that with planes not moving, exactly how many millions of pieces of mail and packages a day are processed and all it takes is a couple of folks before ya being ugly to get the rep ugly for the rest of the day.

I staying positive and feel some of the best people working on it and they are ones who are familiar with the piggy swap every year and get a kick out of it almost as much as we do.

Do try to remember that although these Piggy Swaps are fun and the seeds are quite useful and we all really enjoy planting them when they arrive, they are NOT VITAL to most of us. I hope you are exaggerating about gobbling aspirin and being all in a dither over this one. It's great to persevere and hunt for an answer, but it's not worth stressing over.

Take a break and see the humor in all of those "important" folks searching in who-knows-where areas of their warehouses for a bunch of boxes, sacks, packages that were sent to Piggies! Anxious, wishful, drooling piggies, but still a bunch of us piggies. I hope those "important" people at the Post Office don't find some poor worker bee to hang this on.

You all stay safe and warm with this latest winter storm moving through the south this week.

I agree not worth stressing about. They're JUST seeds, not like anyone's life depends on them. Get a chuckle from the PO scrambling (if they really are) but be aware, if they're in Atlanta, it will be awhile longer. Everything is shut down for tomorrow.

Nope, I not kidding one bit about being so upset and my asprin gobbling. I know they just seeds, but they was somebody's special seeds to be somebody else's special seeds.

I know that eventually they will surface and I will keep bugging folks and taking the steps necessary to get them found.

I gonna give things at least a week. In that time I am putting my all over the place seed back together. What I will do is make a special database for the missing piggies. There are 14 of you and I will divide everything out between ya all. The only thing is that there is no way I can afford to remail 14 packages out again, so if you pig out again, you'll have to send the postage.

I have alot of seed, LOL guess that one advantage of being a seed hog and have a lot of seed that I didn't list before because I didn't know I had part of my seed stash, stashed under the bed and only discovered it when I was picking up a tray I had knocked over.

At least maybe that would give you a few new things to plant while we wait on the other stuff.

Oh ya Atlanta under state of emergency and will be days before things get moving again there.

I called Debra back this afternoon and told to check and see if anybody has even talked to the driver to see if he might remember where he dropped or tossed the bag. I told her that heck Jessie was there, Ed was there, both postmasters when he came and they would have talked to him and could jump start his memory as to maybe what he did that day, most folks can remember something abotu their day and routes.

Ella, you are more important to us piggies than our packages. Lay off on the aspirin and "take a chill pill" - or some chocolate - whatever works for you!

I think the bag will be found now that there are so many complaint numbers tied to it. The local post lady couldn't believe that a post office lost a whole bag of mail. Just think, now the post office will have a new "piggy procedure" to be sure it doesn't happen again. Our bag is probably sitting in a pile of bags somewhere. This is why we send things with tracking numbers!

I checked USPS again and a little window popped up asking me if I wanted to take a survey about their website. You bet I do! Oh boy, they are going to get a screenful!

Winston the pug has a new favorite food - butternut squash. He would be in puggy piggy heaven doing squash taste tests with Joseph!

LOL If Winston is eating all that squash, be prepared for it to start working about 3 in the morning. He'll be doing squash squats for sure. Rolling on the floor laughing

I got a reply to my email complaint filled out on their site on Sunday. They needed more info and I gave it to them. When they all see how many complaints are coming in on this batch, they'll take us seriously! Rolling on the floor laughing

LOL, Ella. I limited Winston's squash portion, much to his dismay. He did his biz when I took him out, so I think we will be able to get thru the night. I saved some for him to eat tomorrow. This squash was especially tasty, so I saved some seeds - only about 12 in the squash. I am germination testing two now. They may be sterile or untrue, but I figured they are worth a try!

Does anyone know a site that has a zip code flower planting schedule like the veggie planting one on the farmers's almanac? That is a real time saver!

We have yet another winter storm watch - 10 more inches of snow starting tomorrow night and continuing Thursday. At least they are predicting snow, not ice. I wore out a pair of winter boots this year. I was walking along and the bottom fell off! Good thing I was just outside the house. I really love those boots - Bass shearling. I am going to see if they can be resoled. Of course, I have another pair of winter boots. I also found a replacement pair on the clearance sale rack. I think that they were a good price because they were teal. Not a problem. They are warm, comfy and will look fine with jeans and my blue coat especially after I knit a hat to match! Of course you know who will get a matching doggie sweater. We are going to be so chic when we go a walking!

Thats great! You know they are taking you seriously when your causing change to better the system.

I agree with the others though: try not to stress to much. I think your right and its only a mater of time before it shows up. and even if not; I agree its not the end of my garden. Sure we'd miss all the goodies but its not life or death and there is always next year. My (still fledgeling) garden will be even more ready next year... Hilarious!

Misti... You probably won't hear anything. They usually don't respond until they some sort of update that is what I was told anyways. Local po usually better at getting an answer from. Ask to talk to the head postperson for your area. Regular employees usually don't care and are always in a rush to hang up on ya. Grumbling

I will keep moving up the chain of command on this for sure. The packages are all insured for $50 but the contents are worth more than that inside. If claims need to be filed, which I hoping and praying not, I don't want to be waiting til the last day to do everything.

If claims need to be filed, not only going to file for the amount insured , but I have all the boxes you sent with the cost of your postage to me, plus postage you paid and am going to see about getting contents claimed for too. They may not go for it, but sure as to heck gonna give it a good try. I just about to the point where, yes I stressed for you piggies, but am getting fighting mad too. It not pretty when I get that mad either cuz I will be contacting local news station about the situation and how for some of you the seed inside is your food crop for the coming year and I don't have a facebook or twitter, my computer won't let me, can always try the library to do it, but have to be very careful on what is said so no backlash of liable suits.

I know that I won't be able to prove the one to one part or the bottom of the barrel, cuz even some of what I know off the top of my head that was in them, there no proof, but the databases are proof of the regular contents. Next year I will make sure I make a list of them too before I just toss.

Those that are missing, you can help by starting to go online and looking up the replacement cost of the seeds, don't forget postage for them to mail to you.

I have started three new threads in the miscellaneous forum. One for piggy flower seeds, one for veggie and one for herbs. As you find the items, please put the name of it first, a link to the site and the price. That way folks who may have the same seed as you won't have to look that one up. There no way I can look up an avg of 2,800 seeds myself.

If some of you piggies that got your boxes, have the time to help out looking and posting for the missing folks, it would be appreciated. Hopefully in the end the packages will get delivered and this will have been unnecessary, but trying to be prepared just in case.

Here the links to start listing:

I will give them time to try and find things, than the next step will be registered mail to postmaster general, and local congressman and we have a law firm here that doesn't charge to give you info on whether you have a good enough case to file or not legally and whether it be worth the cost or not.

Forgot... Anita... I will have to do yours for you as you don't have anything listed. I can get what folks sent you plus have a good idea of what I stuffed into your packet too since I built a box for you. Smiling

It been pouring non stop rain here since yesterday and in a few hours all this rain gonna be turning into solid sheets of ice as the high here today will be at freezing or below, so I may be off line for today and tomorrow as lines freeze so I don't lose puter. If I get breaks in weather will try and get on line if we have service and power.

Be safe all those in this new mess of weather. Stay home. I know most of ya are ready to climb the walls, but better to be safe than have an accident.

It's supposed to start snowing here this afternoon. If we get even a dusting I will probably be at home tomorrow and I will try to look up a few seeds prices, Ella. Should I work on the ones people oinked from me or do you have a master list or some other system you would prefer we work from?
