that ia true star as I compost alot and I really should compost the rolls too. I use to but got away from it. I quit shredding papers too but what I do do is we have 95 gallon trash cans our city requires we use...I learned as my son's ex sicked a PI on him. Since then I dump everything out of the garbage bags into the trash. That way they can't just grab a bag and go they will have to stick around bring a step ladder to get anything they think they want. maybe even fall in on their head. so even in a landfill they have to compete with all the other papers, liquids, and who knows what to get my info.

This will also shock all of you. This was posted by a friend on Facebook. A must see video

I know I got off topic but thought I needed to post for all my friends.

Anytime you use a public copy machine, or a public fax machine, your copies are stored on a hard-drive inside the copy machine (without your knowledge and permission). Later, when the copy machine is sold, anyone can access your date - personal stuff like social security numbers medical records, etc.

The video showed a man who purchased 3 used copy machines: one from a construction company, one from an insurance company and one from a police department - sex crimes division. Each of the 3 machines had the hard-drive and all the information was accessible to anyone who would have purchased those machines.

The end of the video shows hundreds of used copy machines being loaded into cargo containers to purchasers in Argentina and Singapore - and each copy machine contains thousands of pieces of very personal information.

It is very scary.
Edited to add: Thank you ilovejesus for informing us of this. I will spread the word.

Thanks Greene,

Yes it is very scarey. 100's of files of Sex offenders on the Police dept's and 100's of medical records containing when they copy you ID and your SS number's. Now I understand how some emails come to me calling me by name. This is really scarey. When you get a new printer make sure you destroy the old ones Hard drive. Smash it. There are programs out their that do it but they also said the places opted out of it when they bought them as it cost more money for it.

And yes they were sending 100's of them over seas. This has been this way since 2002. I had no idea my home printer has a hard drive.

You are so welcome. I tip my hat to you. I tip my hat to you.

Cups from the dollar store seem like the way to go! I will try a diy paper ones and see how the work for me - I'll be sure to keep them in a container in case they collapse. I was imagining waking up and having a mudslide on my shelf. I have enough cleaning to do without making major messes.

I have saved plastic pots from plants, etc, put may need more pots.
