RedLeopard... Welcome to this years swap. Make yourself comfortable, checkout the other piggies databases . If you have questions or need any help, give a yell. We have quite a few folks that are into growing plants for the hummingbirds and butterflies. Thumbs up

I've got your name added to the participant's list. Don't forget if there is anything special you are looking for add it to your Wish List. You never know what folks will have as we share this next month together. Big Grin

Yep it is me again. Hilarious! You'll probably see a lot of posts from me between now and the start of the Swap as we try to get everybody more or less coordinated. Big Grin

First..... Shirely777 is being added to the participant's list.

Second ... We have a lot of diversity this year. We have a lot of different languages and also a lot of folks with different levels of computer skills. Cubits is not that hard to maneuver around for folks who know their way around computers. We have a group of folks that are very limited in computer knowledge and especially with databases. For some this is their first attempts at it and trading, it's also their first time trying to learn to garden for some, so PLEASE!!!!!!!.... PLEASE!!!!!!!!! have patients with these folks.

Patti and I will do what we can to try and correct their databases and help guide them along, but even we miss things. Regular piggies if you happen to see something a bit out of place that we missed and maybe needs correcting, Please cmail me or Patti so we can try and smooth it out.

Third.... I see folks are starting to fill up their Wish List sections. That is good, but, and this is mainly for the newbies, other than your Wish List to Tuink, which you will post on thread, and than send to her, the Wish List is just that. A list of things you might like to get. Do not expect to just copy and send a whole list of your Wishes to one person in a cmail.

The Regular Piggies or other Piggies, if they see you have something on your Wish List may or may not send you a cmail for one or two things from your Wish List, but not a whole bunch of seed at once. Other than your list to Tuink, you will need to "Oink" for the seed you see on somebody's database and have on your Wish List. Remember too, only 8 Oinks a day, that's 8 packets of seed a day. Other than Tuink, for seed you want, you have to go to the Oinking thread and wallow in the mud and try and beat the other piggies to the feed trough for your seed. Big Grin

Fourth .... Regular Piggies ... Most of you have a lot of experience handling folks not only new to trading and gardening. You know how this swap works. If you get cmails, other than from Tuink or anybody else I may mention later, that lists a seed/seeds request , especially a big list from their Wish List that is not posted on the Oinking thread. PLEASE!!!!!!!!! Gently and professionally decline that big list or requests and guide them back to the Oinking thread to ask for it. Be nice about it. If you get somebody asking for seed not oinked for, just send the cmail back with something like, "I'm sorry, I cannot confirm this request until the seed is first asked for on the Oinking thread. Please post your request there, then send me a confirmation cmail and I'll see if it is still available."

Regular Piggies you know from your own past experiences, how new young piglets can get so excited at seeing all the "eye-candy" and will be running in and around your hoofs, trying to climb over your backs, and all over the barnyard trying to find the feed buckets for the first couple of days. Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing

Fifth .... I know that some folks have limited computer time. Whenever you are able to get online and Oink, you still only get 8 Oinks for that day. You cannot ask for 30 packets of seed at once, just because you missed a few days. Later during the swap, I will have what I call a "Make-Up Days." This is where I let those folks that have missed days or are low on reaching the 100 packet limit catch up. On the Make Up Days, I will let you do alot of oinking at once to help you catch up with the other folks. Don't worry, you won't go hungry. Big Grin

Sixth ... After you Oink on the thread for seed and than send your confirmation, you may get a cmail back saying sorry all of that particular seed is gone. That some other piggy beat you to it first. It is going to happen, so expect it. If you do get turned down for a seed you asked for, you may come back and do a Re-Oink. That is the only time that you can ask for more than 8 packets a day.

For example: I ask Posiondart for some seed. She tells me she has this one and this one, but is out of Petunias. I can than come back and try and ask for another kind of seed from her or somebody else to make it up.

If at anytime somebody needs something re-explained, just ask. I don't mind trying again, especially with all the diversity. Big Grin

Just think Piggies, only 14 more days to go and than you can start squealing, snuffling and oinking. Thumbs up Hilarious!

So start getting your stalls all ready. Start getting those databases organized and your Haves lists up. Other piggies want something to oink at too instead of just being oinked at. Big Grin

Don't forget..... Make sure you always click on the Save Changes button at the bottom of your page every time do you do an edit, so you don't lose your work. Big Grin

I would like to participate again--Regular Piggy.

I always seem to visit here for the first time after the barn doors have been open for a couple of weeks. Got here ahead of time this year! And this thread is already on page six!

Thanks for this wonderful swap!

Edited to say I have to change my picture. That child I'm holding (my step-grandson) is in first grade now!

I have had this happen, and it will as we get farther into the swap.... Generally, you can just ask on the thread, some times someone else has that seed too.

~ I've had on the occasion where someone may have the particular seed for their own personal stash, but will be willing to offer up some seeds to someone in need. I know I've done it, and have been on the receiving end too.

Then there is the chance that no one has the seed you are looking for... that happens too, especially if it is more rare.

Morning Nisi and Welcome back! Glad to see you in one piece after all that bad weather I keep seeing the East Coast has been having. Get you a sturdy pair of jogging shoes on. You'll need them coming in at the beginning instead of tip toeing around full bellied, napping piggies. Rolling on the floor laughing

Good for your grandson. Amazing how fast they do grow up. Big Grin

Head on over to the databases and grab yourself a stall. It may be cold outside, but nice and toasty warm in there. Big Yellow Grin

I am adding NisiNJ to the participants list

Just a reminder. Time changes for some of folks. I'm one of those folks. We will be "Falling Back" one hour. It may take me a day or so to make sure the times of my posts are correct to the clocks here.

Once I am sure my posting time is correct, sometimes I have to change it, I'll let you know, so those of you in different time zones can make the adjustment so you don't miss piggy opening day.

Anita I changed your database around. Good try, but you had Wishes in your incoming. Now what you will do is when the Swap opens on Nov 10th is you will go here:

http://cubits.org/ellasgarden/thread/view/80060/

Make sure you click the WATCH THIS THREAD button until the swap opens and you make a first post. Once you make a post than anytime some posts it will show up on your home page.

Now that you have an idea of somethings you would like to Oink for, when the Swap opens, you can copy and paste the name of the person/persons to Oink for seed on the thread above. You can only ask for 8 packets of seed a day from one or more folks. The exception will be to Tuink. She will count as one oink for the day, but you can ask for what you want from her.

Once, you ask somebody for seed on the Oinking thread, send them a cmail asking for the same seed you posted for. You can copy and paste it from the Oinking thread to the cmail.

Patti and myself will help you along. You may not be an Oinker yet, but we will help you to be a little squeaker at least. Hilarious! Big Grin

Once you get a couple of oinks under your belt, you'll see how easy it will go. Thumbs up Just take your time and don't worry about making mistakes. We all do, even I made them myself my first swap. The regular piggies will help guide you too. They are pro's at this and compassionate and understanding folks.

TO ALL PIGGIES IMPORTANT!! PLEASE READ:

We have a specific reason for wanting you to have your list to Tuink ready and in your WISH LIST database. Some of you folks are only able to get online for limited times. When Tuink is ready to close and you have no list up and we can't find you to get your list, you may find yourself out of luck and crying in a corner because you missed out on a chance at her seed.

Tuink's list is considered one Oink, but all you oink to her is part of your 100 count, or more, if I give it to you. ( It will pay to be a good piggy Big Grin ) There will be alot of seed going up on the databases over the course of the month of this swapping. Some of you may decide to use a whole bunch of Oinks at once with her, some of you may divide it out into a couple of oinks til you see what other folks have. That is fine. Just have your list ready in case we have to send her all or the rest of your list.

Some of you have a full loaded Wish List section. It is hard to tell what part will be for Tuink. If you would, please put her name, your list and a line or some *** or something, so Patti and I know where the list to her begins and ends.

We will not be sending your lists to Tuink, unless we find out lists have to be in right away, unless your one of the piggies that needs help. You'll oink for them on the thread as usual. If your not around, haven't sent your list to her, then we will do it for you, and we will be letting you know we did it for you. We'll give a warning if things speed up on her end.

FYI... Piggies that we know that will be needing help and possibly some extra gentle guidance so far are:

Anita/Diamond919
Barbara00
RidesRedMules
Shirely777

if there are others, we'll let you know. Thanks!

Opps! Edited to add Barbara00

I am interested in joining the piggies again this year.

Life has been challenging lately, I have barely been online except for work. Hope everyone is well.

I can't believe that it is almost piggy time already. We haven't had a full frost, yet, but will soon.

Hurray! Glad you're back, Andi. We were getting concerned about you. Hope things smooth out for you and that wallowing in the muddy barnyard puts reality into a better perspective for you Lovey dubby

Andi.... Group hug Glad to see your back. I been really worried about you. I guess I don't need to send this postcard to you to make sure you was ok. I worry about all the piggies new and old. I know some folks may disappear for months, but as long I know a person is ok, I am happy. Big Grin

I hope things settle back down to some sort of normal pattern for you soon. Two major moves in such a short time can make things very rough. Just glad you ok. Thumbs up

Thanks. The piggy and the puggy are alive. Thanks for your concern, but sorry to make you worry.

I have to update my list. I didn't get many things blooming this year, so I compensated by deadheading my neighbor, "Barefoot Joe's", annuals and gathering native plants. I still have to find the latin name for some of them. I will streamline the seed box as well. It was a tough year for veggies, but I got a few seeds.

If anyone is looking for a certain woodland plant, please let me know so that I can try to find seeds for you. I have two kinds of milkweed this year and some different native plant seeds like white yarrow. I live in the mountains surrounded by lakes and forests. Very few people try to garden here.

I already have plenty of seeds to start without oinking for more, but I love playing with the piggies every year!

I didn't realize people were worried. I am sorry. I have been overwhelmed with everything. None of my problems are life threatening. All can be solved with time and effort.

Haven't been on the threads for some time. So good to see so many new piggies, welcome to you all Group hug
And so good to see so many regular piggies again, that makes me happy Smiling
I'm really looking forward to wallow in the pigpen with all of you!
Was not able to harvest a lot of seeds this year, but I think I have a few surprises for you later.
Don't forget to make your wish list. Although I'm short in a lot of seeds, I might have that one packet you really want.

Now the countdown Hilarious!

Please sign me up! I am here with twisted hooves. Rolling on the floor laughing I haven't been here since 2012. I didn't get to garden at all the last two years, due to medical problems, and lost most of my plants. The weeds took over like monsters and I gave (still waiting for her to move them) my neighbor all my rose bushes since I can no longer get out there and weed. I had a lot of money in my plants, etc. Makes me very sad to give them all up. I am now only container gardening.

Anywho, just wanted to say hello. It is nice to be back in the mud. Smiling Group hug

Glad to see you back, Molly. How about a fairy garden in a large pot featuring miniature roses? You could make borders out of apricot/peach/orange (there's a Drift rose in peach worth looking into), with blue lobelia cascading down over the edge; or a double border out of mini's featuring a tiny bench at the end and tiny companion plants...maybe a miniature arbor over the bench...? One great source of tiny plants is http://www.nargs.org , a seed exchange that makes seed available for almost every habitat and type of garden known to man. A pot or trough garden of white, faintly blushed with pale rose mini-roses could be accented with something like a dwarf conifer, perhaps from the Hinoki cypress species with a miniature Japanese tori (sp?) gate.. Just ideas. Why not put seeds from rose hips of miniature roses on your wish list? And seeds of small perennials/annuals/bulbs etc. too? Google fairy gardens and miniature roses with formal or climbing or cascading habits. And google rose companions - whatever they are, they often come in miniature, too, and then put seeds for those on your wish list, too.

hope this isn't tmi - but isn't it fun to sling ideas around with our mud?

Not I, wildflowers, that is bluespiral musing on the composition of a romantic containerized fairy garden.
Still gray and dismal here today. Pot of beef stew and seed sorting kind of a day for me, it will be.
