Andi... Funny how you didn't like Celebrity. Yes it is a hybrid , but down here it is one of the most popular tomatoes everybody hollers for. Maybe because it holds up fairly well through the heat and drought down here. Only thing is you do have to buy commercial seeds for it every year.

Promise... Oppsies. Blinking Sorry ya had to redo it. Did you forget to hit the SAVE CHANGES?
I have done it before myself. One thing you can do is make a copy and paste it to a word document too.

Not too many days left. Monday night will be here before ya know it. Thumbs up Thumbs up

I tip my hat to you. You're welcome Sandy.

Those of us who enjoy long, long frozen spells can sow seeds all winter long this way. No mad rush to do a bunch at once, just sow at a lackadaisical pace to chase away any lack of gardening winter blues. Big Yellow Grin

I didn't get to plant any kale this year, but I have some seeds put aside. I will try to put together some for the trade. I will earmark one for you Julianna. I want to grow more decorative veggies like purple kale and colored lettuce. The kale is so pretty, you can use it for contrast in a flower garden (and eat it if you don't spray your flowers) I have plans for a decorative greens and herb patch in one area of the garden and a rectangular veggie patch behind the garage,

I had kale come back from its roots after winter, so you may want to cut the tops off after first frost instead of pulling the plants out.

Spotify is easy. You go to spotify.com, download the installer by pressing the big green button and install it. I have a pc, but I think it works on other platforms. You create a free account. I think there is an option for an ad free paid account, but I am happy with the free one. Unlike youtube, the artists give permission and receive some sort of royalty payment. You can follow your favorite artists, add your favorite songs and albums to play lists. I think you can share playlists with other people, but I haven't done that. You can also pick one of their collections. They have all sorts of genres of music - classical, popular, jazz, whatever. I like being able to listen to my favorite music or discover new music legally and free. Artists, especially new artists, have difficulty making a living from their art.

I heard good things about Celebrity, so I bought a plant. I bought several plants - Celebrity, Roma, Mortgage Lifter, San Marzano an Black Prince - as little plants from Home Depot with a b2g1 coupon. I also got Carmen pepper (another hybrid), Japanese eggplant and Pineapple Sage plants. All spent the season in pots. Pineapple Sage is repotted and growing inside. I have heard people raving about Celebrity. I wasn't impressed. It was the weakest grower and died of wilt while the others were still producing tomatoes. To be fair, I grew both Mortgage Lifter and Roma before. They were much more productive other years. I could be the seeds used by the grower, the weather, the pot culture or some combination. I almost didn't buy San Marzano because the plant was so small, but I got it anyway. It was the largest and most productive plant of the bunch! It didn't yield many seeds, but I am looking forward to growing it again.

How many peppers does an average pepper plant yield? I got about six peppers total from one Carmen plant. I loved the flavor, but would have liked a larger yield. To be fair, it was a bad year and the deer nibbled the plant once.

How many eggplants do you get from an eggplant plant? My Japanese eggplant yielded three. It had some kind of bugs at first, which I got rid of with neems oil, then the deer ate the top of the plant. The plant didn't like being "topped off" but at least I got a few eggplants. I picked seeds out of them before stir frying them so that I could try planting them again. I only had three tasty little eggplants, but I wanted to eat them all AND get seeds. I picked the Japanese eggplant because it had a 55 day maturity. The standard eggplant had 90 days.

Winston the pug is impossible tonight. He gets so excited when I take HIS pressure cooker out of the cabinet. He already had his daily rations, but he smells "doggie ragout" cooking. It will be a while before it is cooked, cooled and safe to open. He would be really upset if I used HIS pressure cooker to can tomatoes.

I am looking forward to Monday although I still have seeds to process and pack.

Andi... To make a link clickable you can do just

No spaces

or You can do this

Type some words like Click here No spaces

[b] Which reminds me folks to

Bold .... [b]Type[/b ] no spaces

To strike through something like if your out of that particular seed, just put a [s ] at the beginning of the line and a [ /s ] No space at the end

This is struck through

edited to try get s's to do right.

A handy list of BB Codes can be found HERE

The codes that work here on Cubits seem to be the same ones that work on ATP.

starlight1153 am I misunderstanding the rules?

The way I read them,
- no more than 8 oinks per day
- max 4 people requested-from per post
- up to 8 oinks per post as long as the oinks are from 4 or less people

Is there a max # of oinks per post?

Thank you Ella. I wanted to add clickable links instead of making my list more cluttered.

Maybe we could put some things on a Piggy sticky so we don't ask the same questions each year.

Did anyone share this link? If gives good pictures of seeds and seedlings.

Here is a good one for folding envelops. They work well for small seeds, but not big, heavy seeds like corn or beans.

I've given in and officially joined...
...started a database.

I don't REALLY need many seeds as my garden is getting full...and I STILL haven't made my planters I planed on...but I went to a plant rescue this fall and I ended up "rescuing" a bunch of seed. I have loads and loads of Virginia Mountain Mint seed now as well as tones of Stiff Goldenrod (they both grew in the seed rows as "weeds"! So much good stuff it hurt to think of it all getting plowed under!!) and a good amount of a few other cool things!

PS: not really part of the swap but I do collect stamps and would love if could beg for those too. Any used stamps is good, domestic, international, used, on paper, all good.

Red.... Hilarious! Hilarious! Now ya got me twisted. Rolling on the floor laughing Real easy to do.

No more than 8 oinks a day. That a total of asking for 8 packets of seed total a day.

That seed can be asked all from one person or divided up and asked from up to 8 people.
An example might be you want one packet from me, three packets from Patti, one packet from Bluee, one packet from Poison, and 2packets from Andi. That would be your 8 oinks for the day.

Yep, only 4 peoples names per post. With the above still as an example, you would make two posts on the thread. Say you were asking for all 8 packets that day from one person, ( other than Tuink) you would still break it down into two posts. Over the years I have found it goes easier on folks when it is broke down into smaller requests at one time.

Have ya got it, or did I make the waters more muddier? Hilarious!

Brenda... Thumbs up Glad ya decided to go ahead and join. I know last week when I picked up a stamp to mail a letter I looked at it and thought of you and your stamp collection. Big Grin

So, we can only request up to 4 oinks per post?

So to get our full 8 oinks of the day in, we have to make a minimum of two posts? (regardless of how many people we are asking.)

Also, new "oinking days" will start according to EST. We can start oinking again at 12am EST on the new "oinking day." Correct?

Thanks for the clarification. I don't want to mess up on the new rules. Big Grin

Although my husband doesn't collect stamps anymore, I'm not allowed to throw away any 'because someone might want them' Smiling Glad finally someone is asking for stamps Rolling on the floor laughing . I have so many because I'm trading a lot worldwide. Will go through the big box and see if I have some with wildlife, insects or plants.

Quoting:Once the doors open, you post the name of the person you are requesting seed from. Remember no more than 8 Oinks a day. You may request those 8 Oinks from 1 to 8 people, but please only post 4 names per post and bold the first name. Bolding is done by typing [ b] ( with no spaces) first, than their name and please use screen names as we several folks with same first names to avoid confusion, than type [/ b] (again with no spaces) than type your seed request. Here is a perfect example: http://cubits.org/ellasgarden/thread/view_post/1016896/

That will allow those on West Coast and our Oversea friends ( fondly known as "Long Haulers”) a chance to get home , grab a bite to eat, get the kiddies to bed, or get up, have a cup of coffee before diving into the barnyard of seeds.

Thanks Patti, but I'm afraid neither of those quotes address any of my questions. Sad

I already know that the swap oinking officially starts on November 10th, 2014 10:00 PM EST & that we can only oink from 4 people per post.

What I want clarification on is:

1- Can we only oink/request 4 packs of seed per post?
(Ella seemed to imply that in her last post, although I didn't see it written in the rules.)

2- When do new "oinking days" begin?
I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that it would be by EST. So, in theory, I could oink for 8 packs of seed at 11:50pm EST and then oink for another 8 packs 20 minutes later at 12:10am EST since it is a new day. Correct?

Thanks in advance! Big Grin

You can oink for all 8 packs in one post as long as you keep it to the maximum of 4 people per post. If you want to oink 8 packs from the same person you will do that in two posts. If I'm wrong on this Ella will correct me when she gets back online tomorrow evening. I'm not sure on your second question, so will let Ella address that one. Hope I helped some this time. Sorry that I miss understood what you were asking the first time Smiling

Okay, now I am confused. If you can oink for all eight in one post from up to 4 people, why can't you oink for all eight from ONE person in ONE post?

Heheh! A stamp collector after my own heart! Thumbs up
For USA ones I am still trying to get the oh so beautiful 59 cent herb series and the bonsai trees...love all horses, whales, butterflies, dragonflies...anything nature related, I'll stop before I get carried away. Whistling I use to be involved with many stamp trades over the winter but had a few bad experiences earlier this year so haven't been doing them lately.

Ciao all-

We had a great time at the fair yesterday! My ornamental display won 4th place. There's a couple who have participated in this fair for many years and their entries are really tough to compete with, so the fact that I placed at all was a huge feat! It's really a win-win for me anyway because when we go back to the fair to pick up our vegetables, we can pick a few from their stuff. They live too far away from Toronto to come all the way back and get their stuff so it's up for grabs. I took some photos, mostly for Joseph, of all of the different squash they have. I've got to look several of them up because they're unusual, maybe even rare varieties.
