CCvacation, for the cucamelon, if you let the fruit completely dry on the vine, the seeds are easier to pick out and have a better chance of being viable. We have a similar wild melon here and I wait until the skin is dry as paper. You could bag the very ripe fruit in a net bag, that also helps.
