I had trouble with cats in my old place. Coffee grounds keep cats away. So does ground pepper or pepper spray. They also hate marigolds. My mother planted hardy cacti under the eaves when the neighbors's cats started using the area for a litterbox. That solved the problem. The cacti thrived in the sunny, dry space against the foundation. She didn't anticipate my brother adopting kittens a few years later. Guess who got to remove the needles from their paws with tweezers.
Bella the stealth cat has been bothering my indoor plants. Thanks for the tip of covering the soil with pine cones (I heated them in the oven like sanitizing potting mix). Neems oil may also keep her away. My indoor canna developed a few white scale like insects - like white aphids. I washed the leaves and sprayed them with neems spray. She HATES it - both the spray and the neems.
The weather is a bit warmer today. Winston the pug and I went for a long walk gathering pine cones. I wintersowed more seeds - running out of soda bottles, I shouldn't have thrown away my stash of cut bottles when I moved.
