Andi wrote:Joseph, your timeline was very helpful. Do you start any of your tomatoes or other plants in a greenhouse? I am researching and planning when to start my veggies inside and out. I also have trouble finding tasty short season sweet peppers. I have to start them inside to get any peppers at all. LOL. I have a couple of shelves in the basement where I start tomatoes, peppers, and potatoes. Maybe a little bit of other things. The space is way too cramped, and too cold (60F). I have one shelf with a heater, but it's very small. Only big enough to start two flats, so I have to rotate into it for a couple days to get things germinated, then out they go into the cold. I suppose that I could tear out the shelves and replace them with something that fits my needs better. I could use a greenhouse that's in a friend's garage, waiting to be put together... It's been there for 5 years. Can't put it together with snow on the ground, and too much other work to do during the growing season when I don't need it. I'll be starting peppers within a week or two. Author of Mother Earth News Blog about Landrace Gardening: http://www.motherearthnews.com/search.aspx?tags= Lofthouse |
