It has been "almost raining" for days. I am going to plant my strawberries in the new tiered planter that I got last week. I'll take pics. I noticed while walking Winston that the native strawberries here have white flowers like my special strawberries. I am hoping the new tiered planter and the bird net keep the birds from planting them in my new planter. The previous native strawberries had yellow flowers so it was easy to weed them out of my garden strawberries. I haven't gotten enough berries to be worth the space and time devoted to the plants. I hope the new planter changes that. Winston the pug has a new doggie friend - Hershey the pit bull mix next door. They are both rescue dogs. Winston doesn't usually like big dogs, but he stands to the length of Hershey's leash and sniffs noses. They don't bark at each other either. However, when another dog comes by..... Winston is enjoying exploring the lakes and streams during our walks. I am liking the new place and the new neighborhood. Everyone is very friendly, much more welcoming than the neighbors in the old place. I am not thrilled with the dandelions, weeds, leaves, tree stumps and rocks in the so called yard. (The back yard has so much abandoned debris and tools that raking the leaves is like an archeological dig). I have never used weed killer before, but I am tempted, especially for the dandelions popping thru the gravel driveway. It is going to be a lot of work to get each plant in the ground. Better get going before the rain starts! I should have chosen a rock garden instead of a rose garden. Perhaps I will combine the two. |
