Ella, this year I am putting diapers in the bottoms of my pots to help retain moisture. Not gonna help for the pots you already have but you might want to consider if you are doing more pots. Or maybe put some under the pots? Like cut out circles so the pots sit on them? I was lucky and got a supply when my grandson outgrew one size and there was about half a pack left. Pretty cool here too but so far it's been to my advantage with the cool weather crops. I am very far behind planting seeds but I am not going to stress. i am finished watching the baby in two weeks for the summer so then I'll focus on planting more. I didn't succeed with my lobelia or lisianthus this year. Both germinated but I dropped the containers TWICE and they were in vermiculite so long they didn't grow much, then I forgot them outside and we got that monsoon rain so the containers flooded. I guess they just weren't meant to be this year. My garden is still full of tall gras and all the early spring weeds went to seed. I bought some preen but luckily before i put it down I found out it was NOT the organic kind! I didn't even know they made a non organic version! I am just finally getting my tomatoes and peppers mulched. I won't be able to plant any of my flowers until i do some weeding and there won't be time for that for a few weeks. |
