Hey Starlight/Ella, were you wearing eyeglasses when the bug was smacking you in the face? Maybe it was attracted to the glare of the lenses, that's my best guess.

For cleaning seeds, I have an assortment of colanders and strainers that I dump the seed and chaff into. I buy them at thrift stores and yard sales.

Sometimes I use a funnel to separate seeds from chaff. The seed goes through the hole in the funnel and the chaff stays up in the top part.

After that I put what's left into a Corning ware cereal bowl. I swirl the stuff around and blow a light stream of air as I move the bowl around. I tried going high-tech and blowing through a plastic soda straw but the seeds flew out everywhere!
