I made the jump to the new chat thread... Still wondering about whether or not to join the swap this year. I've been among the last piggies the last two years, and that bothers me. Don't know if I have the organizational skills to stay on top of things and actually mail seeds timely. Any suggestions???

The best thing about last year's swap was the mixta seed and the dahlias. I haven't harvested the tubers yet, but I harvested enough seed to keep me happy next year. About half of what I received were not suitable and will be eaten, but that means that about half are just what I was looking for. The seeds did not get weeded for a couple of months after planting. I couldn't identify what the seedlings looked like, therefore they got a rigorous trial for vigor and ability to compete with weeds.

I had a very abundant mixta squash harvest this year. First time in 5 years of trying. Thanks Rising Creek and StarLight and anyone that contributed cushaw to the 1:1 or bottom of barrel.

I ate a Hillbilly (or Virginia Sweets) tomato tonight. Oh my heck! I forgot how much I love the taste!!! Thanks Patti1957. It is way too long season for my garden, but I harvested them green and let them ripen in the garage.

I am just finishing up bottling the last batch of tomatillo salsa for the evening. Thanks for the seeds.

The yams and unusual squash and melon species didn't do well here. The dill grew great, but the farmer let life get in the way of gardening and didn't collect seed. I suppose that means a heck of a volunteer crop next year.

The garbanzos, favas, and dry beans produced seed. They are like so many of the things I receive from the swap. They get rolled into one or the other of my projects and lose their name and pedigree.
