Landrace: locally-adapted diversity
I only transplant parsnips after their first growing season. I dig them so that I can evaluate how well the roots meet my needs. The second growing season they flower. I am working on "turnip shaped" roots for the parsnips, so that I can dig them in spite of the hard silty/clay soil.
