Several years back, I went on a hunt for a tomato for someone that has seemed to have disappeared. After weeks and weeks of searching, emails and letters all around the globe, I finally found an unopened, sealed canister of these seeds quite by accident in my own backyard. I bought the whole one pound, dust covered canister, not realizing that there was over 200,000 tomato seeds in it. Blinking

I shared these seeds out, gave some to someone who passed them on to a seed savers group and a few other organization. One person who received seed sent them to somebody who grew them out for Baker Creek and Southern Exposure Seed Exchange to keep the line alive.

I still have oodles and oodles of this seed available.

Atkinson is a good, overall tomato. It can produce red tomatoes that range in weight from about 6 ounces to almost a pound. This is a tomato that I would call meaty, but if has that taste of the fresh old-timey heirloom tomatoes. You can slice it, use it for canning, sauces and just about anything else you want.

Atkinson is an indeterminate plant that has Fusarium wilt, root nematode, and powdery mildew resistance. If your in an area that gets high temps and humidity, this is a great one to grow. When temps get around 100+F and humidity is 100%, production will slow down a bit, but I have found it picks right back up as soon as temps cool a bit, giving a long crop til a hard frost.

If your a home gardener and would like some free Atkinson tomato seeds, send me a SASE envelope and I'll be glad to send seed your way.

If your an organization, such as a grower feeding community folks and need a larger amount of seed, tell me name of your organization and send SASE bubbler with 3 stamps, for a larger quantity of seed.

Send me a cmail to get my mailing address.
