Lots of posts to catch up on -- just got back yesterday from a little vacation to Las Vegas! Learned that we are apparently not quite as young as we were 10 or so years ago when we went out there the last time... I feel like I walked about 100 miles between Sunday and Thursday Rolling my eyes. Also learned that everything there is a lot more expensive than we remembered -- $7-$8 for a beer is over twice what we pay here, although I know there are plenty of places where that would be pretty normal. Stopped at one outside bar while we were walking around that had frozen "slushie" type drinks, Margaritas, Rum Runners, etc., and each got a "medium" size (probably 16 oz.). That was nearly $40... Blinking (but they were really good!!) Highlight of the trip was having great seats for "Jersey Boys," the story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons; music we grew up on. Flew back to Green Bay on Thursday, with delayed flights due to all the bad storms going through the area. Stayed there overnight and then drove back home on Friday. Fun trip, but SO glad to be back to our natural habitat!!

The pepper seeds that I planted a couple of days before leaving are just starting to pop up, and my onions are looking great and will be able to go out to the greenhouse soon, once I get the heater set up since we're still getting lows below freezing pretty often. Our highs are in the 50s for the coming week, and most of the snow is gone (despite having another 3 inches of it while we were gone). Rhubarb and the "Allium giganteum" are popping up, willow and poplar trees are starting to leaf out, and the sandhill cranes are back! Hurray! Time for me to get serious about seed starting now...

You all have some really interesting things growing already... I hope everyone has more successes than disappointments this year!! Smiling
