Julianna -- you dont have to have milk jugs... just anything you can poke holes in the bottom and will hold 4" of soil with room to grow, and some sort of cover.

I use all sorts of things...

I've got larger, QT sized yogurt containers, Sour Cream containers, Lg containers that contained Grapes, one container in teh back has a ziploc bag over it.

many half gal or qt sized jugs from Half and Half, juice, kefir ... anything that holds liquid.

sometimes one has to get creative. also i use a of vinegar.
