Hi Susan - glad you entered this plant into Ella's plant database. It's so hard to garden with lots of both shade and deer, and evidently this plant has high adaptability to both.

It would be pretty with some other golden leaved or flowered plants that do well in our shade, including the yellow-flowered epimedium, a medium-tall St. John's wort (hypericum sp.) and a heliopsis. A cluster of the skinny, upright Buxus 'Graham Blandy' would give some dark green shadows to all the yellow and gold, as well as stronger architecture, especially in winter.

Carex elata 'Bowles Golden Sedge' was not on my radar until you mentioned it here - thanks again.
