Hi everyone!

I have to go pick up some vermiculite and some deli containers so I can give that a try when I start sowing.

I don't know much about food crop gardening but a friend at work asked for me to pick out and order some watermelons and maybe a cantaloupe for him to try. I ordered a few from Baker Creek and am looking at Swallowtail and Johnny's.

This is what I got for him from Baker Creek:
Watermelon Dixie Queen
Watermelon Picnic
Melon Anne Arundel (green flesh)
Melon Planter's Jumbo (orange flesh)

He mentioned wanting early and really sweet and possibly seedless but that wasn't a huge deal.

Any suggestions? Any size melon is OK--I think he wants to make it a fun father/son thing with his boy:) I almost picked Tigger just for the rind color.
Oh, NC zone 7 -- short cool damp spring and hot, humid, long summers.
