Did you ever look up to see what happened on your birthday? Today is mine - April 14. I'm 58 today - and I've got to be honest, in my head it doesn't really seem like it's been that long. A long time ago, I got curious about this day in history. Not only is it the day on which I was born, it is also the day on which Abraham Lincoln was shot, the day on which the Titanic ran into one giant iceberg and the day of the worst dust storm in the horrible Dust Bowl years. It is also the date on which Pierre and Marie Curie isolated the radioactive isotope radium, Pocahontas married John Rolfe and the day that the word "telescope" was first used. Every date in the calendar can be remembered for something. I like to remember this as the day I was born and the day that some bad stuff happened and some good stuff happened. I mean, really, where would we be without the word "telescope"? |

Happy Birthday Kathleen! What a momentous day on which to have been born ! Thank goodness it wasn't a day later - the only associations for your day in anyone's mind with would be with the IRS. Porkpal |

I thanked my mother for that once. She said this way, they got to take me as a dependent one year earlier than they would of if I had waited a day - good for everyone. |
